Fed up NancyI'm constantly checking #'s that come to my home or cell phone where I don't know the #. And like you, I'm usually able to gather some data on what type of call it is. I'm also surprised at how many people don't understand what the DNC list is about. From just reading a few entries about this #, it's pretty clear cut that this # is not legitimate. Anyone with a legitimate business, would identify themselves and also be reachable @ the # that called your phone. There are literally THOUSANDS of scammers out there. These calls will continue to bombard your phone #. The DNC legislation was enacted for legitimate business to stop calling when asked or to stop calling if a specific # is placed that list. What people don't seem to get is that the DNC list means NOTHING to a crook/scammer/con artist. The majority of time, the #'s that call you, are spoofed. Meaning that the scammer utilizes some type of software to alter the telephone # that appears on your caller id. I've even received scam calls coming from my own #. There is nothing that can be done to stop these people. If they happen to be found out, it's only a matter of time before the # is changed again and the same calls keep continuing. My favorite scam is the CARD MEMBER SERVICES scam. They call stating they want to lower your interest rates on your CC's. When you ask them who they are, what banks they represent etc etc, they hang up on you. You then try to call back the # and are told that the # is no longer in service. It boils down to a shears #'s game. If they're able to hook just 1 call out of a hundred, they are successful. These scumbags are trying to gather your personal information. The best thing we all can do is just not answer the phone if you don't know the #. Save yourself the hassle of getting frustrated by the fact that these callers don't abide by the DNC list. Unfortunately in this type of scenario, technology is moving along faster than the laws that are in place to protect us.Sure…by all means write to your senator, but don't confuse the message. Laws and technology need to change in order to protect ourselves from these predators. If your phone or an external device allows for call blocking...then set it up. But the bottom line is…there is nothing that can be done to stop the scammers other than to NOT answer the phone!!
Robo call. Said I recently stayed at one of their luxury properties and I was not offered a bonus. Would I like to stay at an uber luxurious resort in fabulous Orlando Florida. I heard Orlando and hung up. I'm sure it's a scam of some sort. Yes, I stay at high end accommodations, however I recently mis-dialed when calling SW Airlines and got something very similar...certain they captured my phone number at that time. Good luck folks.
My call blocker blocks any area code that begins with 6.That is all area codes from 600 thru 699. I don't know anyone in these area codes. It works every time. You enter 6 instead of the full area code and it works. Try it under area code blocking.Buy a call blocker for $49 on amazon or ebay.google 'call blocker'. One ring and they are gone.Caller ID service is required for blockers.Learn to ignore bad phone numbers. Stop answering every call.If nobody answered, and nobody called them back, the scammers would go out of business.
I got this call too. But once I was getting calls that did leave a message. It said that if I don't respond soon, I will lose the timeshare property that was left to me by relatives in Florida, wow. They called at least 3 times a week for YEARS, really. Finally, my computer friend setup my old PC so that it continually return called that number hundreds of times a day, non-stop totally blocking it from calling out. About a month later, my own phone-cable company contacted me with a complaint from that [***] caller. They said that I'm actually breaking a federal communications law by doing whatever I was doing. I said "So the hell are they, because I have been on the No call list for years," As soon as I turned off the PC, I never got another call from them. The sad thing is, that I'm still getting the same type of irritating calls from other numbers. Luckily I can permanently block them on my Cell phone.
