Stated that they were from American Express and wanted to discuss my account activity. I have had AMEX for over 20 years and no problems - never late payments. I contacted AMEX and they said our account was in good standing and they did not call.

If you call 1-888-258-3741 on the back of your card, they will tell you that number is legit. So it's not a scam, and I'm not stupid.It's of course completely normal to be suspicious. That's fine. I'm not encouraging anyone here to blindly give this other number your acct information. But this phone number isn't a scam.

Wrong. They are not posing as AmEx people. They ARE AmEx people. Just call the number on the back of your card if you're suspicious and they'll clear it up.

I got a call from this number. Didn't pick up. They left a message and they said it was AMEX. I don't even have a credit card at all. Why would they call me? If it's a scam, then ok, I just won't pick up. But could someone possibly have opened a credit card in my name?

I received the call this morning and they were saying I have an outstanding balance, the due date and dollar amount they were claiming are correct. Besides, I also tried to pay online twice, but didn't work at all, probably because I put the wrong bank account #. They only asked what's my name and my birth place, then I gave them my bank routing # and account #..then that's it. Hopefully it's not a scam and not trying to stole my personal information..

the call claimed to be amex, please call back with acct #. i called amex, using number on back of card (not the number provided in the call). the call was indeed from amex, their records showed that they did call me, they said that the call was legitimate, and that they wanted to notify me that my corp card was canceled. based on my personal experience, i suggest that you call amex, using the number on your card, and make sure everything is okay

This number called me yesterday and it had 2 number listing on my caller id when they called a message was left but it was elevater music:/ go figure

Caller states that they are an Amex representative and asks for payment, or more like demands payment. Annoying repetative calls, but never a massage left.Thank you.
