I called the number on the back of my amex card and asked about this number. It is one of Amex's numbers but she could not figure out why they were calling. I am current on my card. I asked to be taken off their marketing list. She said it would take about 30 days.

I called American Express and was on the phone with them for over 30 minutes. We have determined that this number is a legit American Express number from the credit department but I can't vouch for those people that don't have an AMEX card. I'm guessing thats just bad customer service on AMEX's part. but it is a legit number.

We keep receiving calls from these fools and when I call AmEx they don't say that the company isn't affiliated with them they just tell me to disregard the calls. Not gonna happen! They called me on Sunday and they got reported big time! I have managed to find out, through numerous phone calls, that this company is the collectons company for American Express and they are doing a piss poor job. My account is set up so the money due is automatically taken out of my account yet I am told I owe money and haven't paid in months. Finally stopped trying to explain this to the morons and got the BBB involved. This is outsourced and probably isn't actually in the United States judging by the complete inability of anyone that I have talked to to speak much English. They also have a habit of putting down the phone to go find someone that can understand my language. American Express you stink and you need to go out of business and take your crappy collections agency with you. But if you want to have some fun keep these morons on the line and screw with them. When they ask you for a Soc Sec # make one up!!!! Talk real fast and then put the phone down while you watch, I don't know, The Wizard of Oz perhaps. Turn it into a fun experience for all involved.

Received a call this morning on my cellphone claiming to be from American Express, and they asked for my ex-boyfriend. I said it was a wrong number and they hung up. Definitely bogus, so assuming not actually tied to Amex at all BUT, I can't figure out how they'd have my ex's name listed with my cellphone #. I can't recall ever putting my number down as a contact for anything in his name. Not even for pizza delivery or anything trivial like that...

I got a call on my go phone cell phone. I didn't answer. They left a message saying: This is American Express, this is not a telemarketer, this is a personel business matter on your account, call us at 1-888-8192135. Have your account number ready. Available 24 hours a day everyday.

This number has been calling me and I do not have an American Express card and never have. I have asked three times to be removed from the calling list and continue to get calls. I called customer service and was given 1-877-352-6747 to be removed from the call list. The person answering this number said it was the wrong number for removal and gave me the number 1-877-366-6737 to be removed from the calling list. This number allowed me to enter the number I want to place on their do not call list. I will be reporting American Express for non-customer harassment to the BBB.

Falsely claiming to be American Express and asking for my social security number.

this is american express,i have a card i have fallen behind on.otherwise they never call me,for those who think these guys calling are scammers,think again.either you had a card and your in denial,or its just a wrong number,there is no reason to get stupid about it.

I have gotten several calls from this number. I do not answer the phone and they usually don't leave a voice mail. However, one day I DID have a voice mail from American Express saying that they were calling about my account and to have my account number ready when I called. Funny thing -- I don't even HAVE an AmEx card, and there isn't one on my credit report (so not a case of someone having a card in my name).
