JUST GOT A CALL. DID NOT ANSWER. DECIDED TO BING SEARCH AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND. 411 IS VERY HELPFUL ESPECIALLY AFTER I RECEIVED AN E-MAIL FROM SOMEONE IN GERMANY/EUROPE WANTING ME TO DO SOMETHING AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGEMENT. THE MAIL I RECEIVED IS GOING TO THE POLICE IN THE MORNING ALONG WITH SAVED E-MAILS! THANK YOU ALL!

Nonsense. This is a person calling out using SKYPE. They have purchased the SKYPE-OUT service which allows them to call land lines and mobiles from the SKYPE computer or mobile interface. Many folks use this to save money on long distance bills, especially if they're at the mercy of one of those overpriced, greedy gyp-job wired telephone networks who laughingly call themselves a "service". There is a bank of numbers from which SKYPE chooses at random to allow a user to place a call through. You may have gotten some spamming jerk once, but the next call may be from your Aunt Sally in Buffalo if she's using SKYPE to call you. If you keep getting bad calls from this number, simply block it. Aunty will get through eventually when SKYPE gives her another number from the pool to complete her call.

Probably because they're not a business and don't give a rat's tail what list you're on. This is a number temporarily assigned to people making outgoing SKYPE calls. It may not have always been so, but as of early 2014 it is....

Try this, Lexy... Go to Callcentric and get one of their free incoming numbers. Go to the CC home page and under the RECEIVE CALLS header you'll see the option of getting a Free Phone Number. NOTE: if you set one up, be sure to tell CC you are using this number from outside the U.S., otherwise they'll stick you for a small monthly 911 fee. This number will accept incoming calls only and you cannot call out on it but it's free and unlimited. These numbers are NY numbers but what the heck, most people have cheap mobile LD these days anyway. Use this number for your Craig's listings. The beauty part is you can set this number up to automatically send every caller to voice mail and you can set it up to e-mail you when you get a new VM. Then you can go to the site to listen and call them back from another phone or SKYPE OUT, (or block further incoming calls from them) at your leisure. (you can also have this number ring your phone if you use an oBi device, but that's another subject).It's a free incoming voice number with some powerful call treatment options and SKYPE-OUT service only costs a couple of bucks a month if you don't want to give out your real number when you call them back. PLUS it forces them to leave a number where you can reach them and this alone might stop a lot of hanky panky. If they get stupid, use a call treatment to block them and the next time they call, they'll get a disconnect message.Might be worth looking into if you do a lot of business with strangers online.

I was called several times today from this number & just kept ignoring it. When I try to ring back says I cannot call because it is a Skype number. I picked up phone last time without saying hello to see if it was an automated marketing call but it was a live person. Lots of buzzing in background makes me think it is from a telemarketing center. Would appreciate if anyone has been called from this number recently & let us know what it is. Thanks.
