yep got a call just now stating they were from Mastercard and for me to press #1 to activate my card, hung up and put # on my block list
Just recieved a call from this number on both my home phone and on my partners cell phone and my mothers cell phone and everytime we answered the phone would click and an automated voice would say goodbye, it was extremely wierd and odd! :S
just got a call saying my debit card had been locked and to press 1....I hung and called my bank, seems the card had been compromised, but no fraudulent withdrawals....my bank cancelled the card immediately....said it could have been some merchant whose system had been compromised. Beware.
I received a call on my cell this evening at 8:45pm local time 2011/02/28 and the male caller with an accent (and very poor reception) asked if I could hear him after I said hello 3 times afterwhich he said he was doing a survey....I told him I don't do surveys and hung up....
I have been getting calls from SEVERAL numbers. This one and also these area codes: 214407508I have done a search on all of them and have seen similar messages posted by potential victims. They are calling both me and my husband, so we're trying to figure out if we put our info out there recently to piece together how this all started. 3 of the 4 were all saying they were calling from wells fargo and our card was locked. We do not bank with them. The 4th call was an Indian sounding man telling my husband he was calling about the virus on our computer. We have a MAC and it does not get viruses...Anyway, we are concerned as to how these people are getting our info as we have had problems with overseas fraud transactions in the past. Any suggestions as to where to report this? It's ridiculous and they need to be stopped. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there oblivious enough to fall for something like this.
I've had this call many times. Recently from "HSBC" (with whom I do not have an account), but before from "my" bank as they never stated what bank the card was with. The account is always either frozen or has been compromised and same as everyone else, they want you to press 1, etc. I'm suprised they have been around for so long!
