I just received the same call..I just hung up...How the heck are they getting our phone numbers..
My wife got a call from an unidentified number that came up as "000-000-0000" on caller ID. It was a recorded message stating her credit card had been compromised. She hung up before listening to it further. My daughter immediately received a call with an identical recorded message. It did show up on caller ID as "701-509-8703" . My daughter listened and it asked her to enter her PIN so she hung up. Both my wife and daughter have sequencial phone numbers.
Got call 2:10 pp.m. EDT. Caller ID showed it as a cellular phone. Recorder female offering home security system hooked into local PD & blah, blah blah. Usually let machine pick up & usually its a hang-up w/no message. Shoulda done that this time, too. Duh.
Received a missed call from this number on my cell phone today. After reading this thread, I called the number back and was connected to an automated voice telling me to press 1 to be removed from their "preferred customers list" and do not want in on their "special offer".
I received a call from the number 7015098703 and it came up on the caller IDas card services. I answered the call and pressed the option 9 just to see what would happen and a quote representive answered the phone and asked if I was calling to lower my interest rate on my credit card. I told him to remove my number from the list and he told me to shut up.
Got a call from this number on my cell phone claiming my B of A card was locked up, don't have a B of A card but family members do, so hung up immediately and called B of A security, no problems with my familys card. Tried to call this number back and got a generic recording. THIS IS A BOGUS SCAM, and thanks for wasting my time
Received cal from this number. A computer generated voice said it was the NCUA and that my debit card had been locked (I don't have a debit card with a credit union that the NCUA would insure, but continued to see what type of scam it was). Message said to press "1" to unlock the card. Pressed "1" and then the same computer voice repeated, press "1" to unlock or "2" to cancel. Press "1" and then the computer voice asked me to enter my 16-digit debit card number. I then hung up. I called the phone number that appeared on the caller I.D., and a computer generated voice answered making it sound like a direct marketing business but didn't give a name, opting to press a button to opt out of their service. This is an obvious scam to get your debit card number (and it probably would ask for your PIN number in order to unlock the card). Do not fall for it.
My husband and I got calls on our separate phones within an hour of eachother - one at 12:43pm on my phone, one at 12:30am on his phone which leads me to believe some company has hacked into AT&T records or something. We can't think of any business that has both our separate cell phone numbers?!?
Must be a scam. They claimed to be my credit card company and that my debit card was being deactivated. The answering system said to "press 2 to reactivate my card". I didn't do it, but I'm assuming that I would have had to put in my info (card no. and exp). Beware of this number! Sounds like an identity theft scam to get your card information!
