The phone number shows up as "Siemens" so I answered the phone, could be someone I needed to speak with, it was a person with an Indian accent stating they were from the "United State Healthcare compensation", asking if I have had any surgeries and could be eligible for compenstation. When I asked for a call back number or a person I could talk to on how they got my name and why they are asking about surgeries I have had or maybe have had, he got a little defensive, no called back number and noone I could talk to who is in charge. Then I asked what surgeries were eligible, he names off 4 diff surgeries, very hard to understand what he was saying, again I asked why they chose me...I hve not had any surgeries, then he asked if anyone in my family would have had any of these surgeries, again I asked why they are calling me and if they had a list of surgeries or any information on me, he said thankyou and hung up.
Siemens 703-272-4699. Definitiely a scam. Caller wants you to turn on your computer because he "knows" that you have a virus and is calling to "inform you" and help you. Scam for sure!
The caller ID said Estee Lauder, but then when I answered it was a recording saying "Important IRS update...." I hung up
Name of outfit is Siemans. They go around town in a truck that looks like it's for trimming branches around wires. They call to say your computer has been hacked and they will fix it for free. Then they take control of it and crash it if you won't pay them.
Shame as above - Don't give these (OR ANYBODY YOU DONT CALL YERSELF) *any* information. Please waste their (your) time as long as you can as a public service!
Just for clarity's sake: From the (many) other posts, this number's certainly from callers sending spoofed C ID. I've gotten several versions of the scam calls, Microsoft, IRS, the DUI, etc under this number, all with different names. Makes me wonder why they would ever use a fake number twice. It's like one guy says "Rog, the mind of mine has been very given a great idea that is also very new. Let us say we are of Microsoft" and Rog says "Yes, Yeesh, dat is a brilliance of the mind of yours. But I am veddy thinking the number of 703-272-4699 is the best number we should use." "Oh, the mind of you is of brilliance, too; as that was a very good number when we were the IRS."
They started calling me 6 AM. 38 missed called by 8 am, only 2 voicemails, both a recording of music. They would switch from the 702 number to an unknown number. I think I'll go buy a blow horn for when they call again. Every time I block a number they call from another.
