Got a robo-call today, sunday, 01mar15, @ 5.00 pm on home land line number: starts out saying: "this is cory from nevada..." goes on to talk about something called 'secrets of the wealthy". blah, blah, blah. Said call the number 307-212-6331 to listen to their recording again. Caller id on my phone, however, shows call came from Virginia, on number 703-272-4699. More pyramid scam b.s.
This number was never connected to the Indian scammers that are making these calls on VOIP (voice over internet protocol) - they simply spoofed this phone number onto the caller IDs of US recipients who have that service to try to succeed with their monetary scams.Given that the phone calls originate in India, having your phone number on the Do Not Call List is of very little help - governments in the US have little ability to find and then prosecute these overseas scammers.Don't answer these calls. If it bugs you enough, get an app. for your cell phone or a Digitone call blocker for your land line.
703-272-4699 just called our business. Caller ID shows up as SIEMENS. It's clearly an illegal spoofed robocall. They were trying to offer to get us listed on the first page of Google. Guess what morons - my business already comes up on the first page of Google since we have such a unique niche business. So tired of all of these fake Google and SEO scammers calling our business. Report each and every one to the FCC.gov website and the number provider CLEC/ILEC.
Called someone today from my phone number which is non published (not a 703 #) and her caller ID showed 703-272-4699 for me as the caller. Weird!!! She told me this so I documented the number and called her back 15 minutes later and it happened again. Anyone have any ideas? I called my service provider and they are checking on it and will call me back today. How could I have 'spoofed' this number accidently? Don't know what spoofed means and I am not tech savvy so I doubt I did anything to contribute to this problem.Any ideas welcome. Thanks!
Said I could have a free security system if I let them put their sign in my front yard, common sales ploy, they make their money on the monthly monitoring fees. I selected 9 to be put on their Do Not Call list, but I doubt it will help. Like many others, depending on my mood, I believe the best deterrent is to stay on the line, talk to them for a bit, perhaps ask them to identify their company (many hang up when you ask that), then ask to be put on their Do Not Call list. Belief 1: The rats in this business don't want to call those who waste their time, so being a small nuisance back actually has a positive effect. (please, don't wake me, it's a nice dream)Belief 2: Congress will do something (soon) to catch and punish these nitwits. (yep, still dreaming, but it's pleasant here)
This number called my gramma n said they were me, I was in jail for drunk driving (im pregnant) and needed $900 to bail me out. Became upset when my grandma asked what jail n Hung up. Scammers ppl!
Received eight calls over two hours from Siemens 703-272-4699; also Seattle 206 701 0285 and San Antonio, Tx 210-280-8487. Same caller, used different names. He said he worked for the Microsoft Help Desk--my computer was infected but he would walk me through a procedure to fix it. Same scam as above.
They called my Google voice number but I didn't answer. I see the number listed though with no message left. Google says they called in October- 10/16/13 5:38 PM. (Shows you how often I check my messages!). They are in Fairfax, VA I guess.
