Called the National Grid number on my bill. Told them a Brooklyn number called and left a specific message. They said that message was "code" for them needing to swap out a 7 year old gas meter. The woman I spoke to was apologetic for the shady sounding message...but this seems to be a legit call from them.
I thought it was a scam so didn't call the number but did call National Grid Customer service and, like Julie says it was National Grid wanting to schedule a meter change. No charge so that's OK with me
It's a thing in Massachusetts to have meters changed out every so often. NG is not trying hard enough, and so make many mistakes.1) They're using a bad number - call it back see what it says.2) Of all the junk mail NG sends, this would be one important thing they should mail out that is not junk especially after repeated failure to call. Is postage to much even for regular meter changeouts, which is required by law?3) If they want people to listen, don't use robocalls, at least have a live person on the line from a working number.4) If a message is left, actualy say what the issue is instead of being very generic and letting people guess. A robocaller saying something is "important" is just another scammy robocaller waiting to be ignored.
I received several calls to my cell phone from a woman claiming to be from National Grid asking me to call 800-922-8201 and select option 3 from the menu to speak with Mr. Flynn about an important matter. Sounds like a collections call, but I'm current on my payments, and did not request service, so there's no need for them to be bothering me.
Caller ID says it is National Grid but National Grid said they did not call and do not solicit payments over the phone and by credit card. These people are scammers looking for people credit and debit card info to steal money and use your card info for fraudulent reasons.
I am getting spam calls sometimes daily from this number. (17184036900) The call claims to be the Colonial Gas Company -National Grid. I do not have an overdue bill and I live in a rental unit. I would like to contact a lawyer for the harrassment....
Calls my cell, which is not listed or connected in anyway to a National Grid account. How do you stop this?
I live in Massachusetts and didn't trust the crackly Brooklyn, NY message saying they were National Grid. I called National Grid customer service directly and they confirmed the call was to change the gas meter which is required by state law every 7 years. They are coming to do it the next day, on the weekend.
