Just got a call on my cell phone. It was National grid left a message about an appointment to change a gas meter. I'm in Jersey City, NJ. They don't even service this area.

This number left me a voice mail re changing a gas meter. I have had no problems with my gas meter nor have I asked for help. I have no intentions of returning their call. Thank you for this web site.03/09/2012 3:35 p.m.

Within ten minutes, this call chose a different strategy. There was a voice mail from 1-800-922-8201 re a "required meter change" that would take 45 minutes. I will not return the call.

The number is evidently legitimate as the 800-922-8201 number is, indeed, national grid. I telephoned them. There is a policy of changing the meters every seven years. They need the resident's phone number to identify the customer account because the original call is a VOICE MAIL and they need to pinpoint the location of the meter.

Yeah, i got a call from the same people, i called keyspan ( now nationalgrid ) and they confirmed the phone number that called is the meter department. what is happening is when the meter cant be read, they need to replace the meter. what i didnt understand is why they tell you if they come and your not there they want to bill you for the visit. WTF is that?its not my meter! im going to watch them today. there are 6 meters. they all look the same.LOL

They've called and left voicemail on two straight days. As renters in MA and with no service contract with National Grid, they're simply annoying me. And how did they get my cell number?

I received a phone call on my cell phone from 718-403-6900 today. When I answered they quickly hung up.

National Grid called to confirm that my appointment this morning went as planned.
