I recieved a phone call from them...I'm not a shareholder...nor did I ever do business with fidelity I've asked them to remove me and yet they continue to call...what response should I take now...since yelling isn't appropriate according to you yet...being polite has gotten me no where apparent.
These may be "legitimate" calls, but does anyone at Fidelity realize how annoying it is to answer the phone and listen to dead air for the 5 or so seconds it takes for a rep to get on?If it keeps up, I'm gong to my broker to look for another fund that doesn't involve Fidelity.
As others have noted, this is a legitimate call reminding shareholders of certain Fidelity funds to vote their shares (or proxies) on a small number of proposals before the early May 2015 shareholders' meeting. That's why I label this an "event reminder" call, because that's really what it is. (If you own shares, either directly or via mutual funds you should have received information either in the mail or via email if you get your info electronically). Yes, the calls are annoying, but they do stop once you vote.
Someone keeps calling and their name pops up as "Fidelity." He gave his name as "Omar" in conjuction with a company that works proxy or something of that nature with Fidelity. They reported that we had a "Newberry State Trust" tax exempt fund and this call was in regarding to this. I think it is a scam because when we asked him for the symbol we were invested with he hung up on us. Maybe he was trying to claim it was a bad connection. He didn't bother calling back either.Quick Tips: Don't provide personal info to random phone callers even if it sounds legit. Call the Fidelity folks directly rather than someone with "Fidelity" on the caller ID calling you.
Got call from this number. He said he was calling on behalf of Fidelity regards to a proxy issue in some Newberry fund. I have never heard of a Newberry fund. He said he was looking at my account. I do invest with Fidelity. Told them to not call me anymore and hung up. I do not take cold calls very well. Legit or not, I don't know. Sounded way too phishy.
Yes, I got the same call claming I owned something in a Newberry Fund. I don't. Nuveen yes, Newberry no.
So, turns out this was a legit call. Newberry Trust is basically the one of the Fidelity Tax Free Money Market funds as I just received the proxy info in the mail. Now I feel bad I was harsh to the poor cold caller on the other end of the phone. :-(
I got one call on March 26, 2015. We were eating dinner, so I did not answer. From other comments, I infer that the caller is allegedly from Fidelity, where I have accounts. But I suspect it is not from Fidelity, but instead is spam or phishing. I have not received another call as of March 30. If I get another call, I will post it on this site.
I've received calls from 'King' beginning at 0800 in the morning...and finally answered days later on a Friday call at 2130 after maybe ten attempts by them. I finally answered tonight at 9:30pm on a Friday...and they sey in a foreign voice it's a proxy call. If Fidelity does not call me to explain this, my investments will be pulled.
