This is a legitimate company - a fraud protection service hired by credit card companies, including People's United Bank. They called and left a voicemail for me to verify a charge I had just placed on my credit card to an overseas company. I was NOT asked to provide my credit card number - they pulled up the transaction with my phone number.
this number seems legit.i have used this web site many times in the past to verify strange phone numbers and am taking the time to post as pay back.called the number back and they asked to verify my phone number that the message was left at. they then asked for my last 4 soc sec. did not give them that info. i asked who they were - first data resources. THEY THEN GAVE ME the last 4 digits on the debit card and the bank that issued it. they told me to call the bank directly. i called the bank and they verified that a large group of visa numbers had been stolen from visa's system and my card was just one of many that they are dealing with.
This number is in fact a third party processor that verifies transactions made on your credit card. They should only be asking you for your phone number or your name. If you do not believe them, tell them you will call the customer service number on the back of your card and verify the transactions with them. If you do call the CS number on your card, please ask for a supervisor to validate that this number is in fact a real number. The average person in CS will not know about the service. This third party is also the same company that approves your transactions and send you your statements. Just remember, you do not own your credit card, the back that issues it does. They can do what they want with the account. That even includes having a third party call to verify transactions.
legit. Verifying purchases I made with my ExxonMobil speed pass over the past weekend. I was traveling about 300 miles from home, and did transactions both at home and while traveling. I gave no account information over the phone and they had the exact addresses of the transactions. I think showing transactions so far apart could have triggered a fraud alert with the CC company. no worries.
This # is legit, they called to verify recent charges on my credit/debit card. Did not ask for account number or any other inappropriate information.
Yes, a legit number. I called the number that is listed on the back of my credit card, and they did confirm that someone from the fraud department was trying to contact me.
This was a valid call. My Exxon/Mobil speed pass was used quite a bit in a short period of time and in two different states. They verified transactions by amount and city and never asked for linked credit card info.
Can't say for sure the number is a scam but the information they had was far from what was actually going on with my account & I'm sure if I wouldn't have ended the call & verified with my bank which happens to have a 24/7 customer service rep ready to help you they would have gotten information that could easily have turned the situation into a scam... LONG STORY SHORT DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION CONTACT YOUR BANK OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY!
