I got a call and asked them to send me the information in the mail, if there was an issue...and a guy said, "that's the thing, you may not get the info"....sounded fishy, so I hung up.
I recieved a call from our member stating they rcvd a vm from this # and it sounded like a sales call. The member called our phone # to verify the informattion. This is not a pfcu phone #
Same here! When I called back, the lady who answered identified herself as Pentagon Federal Credit Union and wanted my name and social security number. I told her that this number has been listed as a fraud number. I called Pentagon FCU and reported it. The local number on caller ID was (703)317-3700. Please do not give out any info. Call PFCU yourself to verify that they did not call you if you have an account with them.
Noticed I had a VM. Listened to it and said to call Pentagon Federal Credit Union regarding my account and call back at 1-800-451-7269. I looked up the Pentagon Federal Credit Union online and the 800 number on the website does not match the one given on the VM. I work at a state Attorney General's office in the Consumer Protection Division so I asked someone about it. We put the number in google and all of this came up. It is a scam do NOT call back.
This is NOT a scam. I got a call from this number as well but they left no voicemail. When I called back, they indicated it was a courtesy call to let me know a payment was late. When I questioned why, as I saw no late payment in my online account, it turned out that the the website account status was behind owing to establishing a new credit card account for a balance transfer. I gave the person I spoke with my member number and they knew immediately who I was and the balance owed on my account. A scam would not have known this. Unfortunately, too many people provide responses based on inadequate checking, leading some to conclude this is a scam. I am a member of PFCU and can confirm it is not.
I just received a call on my work number for a prior employee, if it is a number that I don't recognize I google it to see if the number is from somewhere I know. This time I answered the phone and I told the guy that he sounded fishy so he gave me his extension and name and I called PFCU myself and asked Andrea to verify both numbers the 800 and 703 numbers and she placed me on hold and came back to say it was a number for the collections department. I asked her to verify the number and she gave me 800-451-7269 as the collections department. So just a word of advice these people maye really be trying to help you out. So if in doubt please call. Although I'm not an expert it still maybe good to verify for yourself with PFCU and ask for the number to the collections department explain what happened and see if the numbers match. Thats what I did and it may be worth the extra time. I AGREE ITS NOT A SCAM!!!! TAKE THE TIME TO CHECK FOR YOURSELF!!!! All websites cannot be trusted!!!!
This is a scam. I got a call about 5:30pm yesterday on my cell phone. Caller ID was (703) 317-3700. A female voice said they were with PFCU collections and that I was late on my auto loan payment of $189. She said she could take care of it over the phone if I gave her my credit card number. This call was completely phony because neither of my auto loans are for the amount claimed and both had been paid on time. Also, I am pretty sure PFCU doesn't even have my cell phone number. I told her the auto loans had been paid and that I was not giving out financial information over the phone and hung up. I checked my bank account this morning and confirmed that both auto loans had been paid. How she knew I had a PFCU auto loan and my cell phone number is very disturbing. Sounds like an inside job.
