Just because caller ID shows a number, that doesn't mean it's legit. Scam artists spoof numbers to display on Caller ID with VOIP. A caller to my company last year showed a different # every time they called. One time, the caller ID showed MY number calling ME. Not sure if this is a scam or not for wells fargo, but wanted to clarify that caller ID isn't something to put your faith in since it can be faked.

NOT WELLS FARGO!!! I called the Wells Fargo number on my actual mortgage papers. They said this is a "phishing" scam attempting to get your SSN and Account.

this number is posted on wells fargo web site. I called it and recieved assistance as well as an automed account info. did not seem to be a scam.

It is Wells Fargo. If you don't have an account with them then it's likely that the person who had the number before you did or that somebody with an account gave Wells Fargo a bogus number. Wells Fargo may also now own a loan that you took out with a different bank. It's worth talking to them long enough to at least figure out which of these things is the problem.

Received a phone message at work from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and to call them back. I don't have a mortgage account with them, but I do all my banking with them, including a home equity line of credit. I called and they needed me to key in the account number or social security number. I went to the Wells Fargo web page to check on the phone number. Since I did not find the number listed, I went to Google it. After seeing all the comments on this page, I tend to believe this could be a scam. If I need to talk to Wells Fargo, I will call the numbers listed on their web page.

Visual voice mail call from 800-999-8501 was very inappropriate, since I have no business at all. Voice mail had an attached file and of course I did not open it. I called back and machine asked me to give my loan number or social security number. I managed to talk with the person, without giving my soc. no, and the person said there is no such phone number on the list. I am highly suspecting this is a part of scam.

Caller ID is from 612-312-8585 WELLS FARGO MTG. They leave an automated message telling me to please call Wells Fargo Mortgage at 1-800-678-7986 and giving the office hours. For the past 4-5 months, they have been calling sometimes as much as 2x a day several days a week. I tried to call the 800# to tell them they are violating the do not call registry and I will report them but it is auto-answered asking for your loan number or social security number. I have not loans through Wells Fargo let alone a mortgage. It sounds like a scam to me so I looked into the 800# and some believe that it is a legitimate Wells Fargo #. I am reporting it to the Do Not Call complaint center, I've blocked the 612# through my phone company, and I'm contacting Wells Fargo in case it is them. All soooooo very annoying but it reaks of scam to me so I wouldn't give them any info.

Guess what I just learned from a Rich Dad Poor Dad webinar. When you are ONE day late on your mortgage the bank counts it as 30 days late so if you are what you think of as FOUR days the bank counts it as 34 days late. I don't exacly understand how thiey are able to do it but ask them to explain it in writing to you. They can't refuse to do it. Knowledge is POWER.

I work for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and got a caal from a homeowner of ours stating she got a call from this 800 number telling her she was late on her payments. It is NOT A REAL Wells Fargo number so please is you get a call from them or any number you dont know or you feel funny about the call tell them that you will call them back, hang up and call the number that is on the back of you monthly statments.
