This number is ABSOLUTELY VALID. I received a letter in the mail telling me that a temporary hold had been placed on my debit card because of possible fraud. They said they had tried to contact me by phone several times, which is quite possible. The letter directed me to call the 800-978-8664 number to verify some transactions. I called the number on the back of my debit card instead. The person I spoke to at Chase transferred me to the Debit Card Fraud Prevention department. The representative wanted to verify a transaction I made while out -of-town last weekend. I haven't used my debit card out of town for probably two years, so my recent transaction looked suspicious. I verified the transaction, and the hold was removed in a matter of seconds. The representative told me if I have any other problems in the future, I could call her back at 800-978-8664. Feel free to call the number if you receive a message from Chase. It is not a scam.

The following phone numbers are for the Chase Debit Card Fraud Prevention Department - Short DCFP800-978-8664800-355-5265If you guys get a call from either of those numbers and are not comfortable please hang up and call the customer service number on the back of your Chase Debit Card 800-935-9935and ask to be transferred to the Debit Card Fraud Prevention (DCFP) Department. The call center is open 24 hours a day. They will attempt to contact you a couple of different ways.1. Text SMS- If you have a valid cell phone on file you will receive a text message asking you to confirm if recent transactions were authorized by yourself.2. Phone Call- If you have valid numbers on file the automated system will attempt to contact you (make sure your voicemail box/answering machine is not full or you won't be left a message)3. Email- If you have a valid email on file you will receive a communication from Chase Debit Card Fraud Prevention advising you that there is an issue regarding recent activity and for you to contact them.****Always remember Chase will not ask for your Password or PIN number via email EVER!!! DO NOT GIVE THAT INFORMATION OUT!!****4. If all of the above methods are unsucessful your debit card will be temporarily blocked and a letter will be physically generated and sent to the address you have on file for your account.Keep in mind the letter will generate even if you speak with a representative, just bear in mind if you have already spoken with a representative and resolved any issues you can disregard the letter.Another issue to consider the letter and phone calls come with a reference number. This reference number is for entry in the automated system only!! If you try to give that number to an analyst they WILL NOT be able to assist you because that information does not populate on their side. The reference number is used as part of your phone authentication for the automated system so that when your call is transferred to a live representative they will already have your account information up.Finally as always if you are suspicious of the call HANG UP AND CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR DEBIT CARD!!I hope this provides some clarity to the process we follow to try and mitigate fraud and protect your account and the phone numbers above.

I got a text from 95686 telling me that it was chase and the card may have been compromised; I went to a landline and called the number on the back of the card and they said the card may have been compromised. While I was on the phone the 800 number called me and left me a message that I should call the 800 number or the number on the back of my card if I have any questions. The fraud department said that somebody tried to make a purchase that exceeded the limits, which is what caused the alert. So if you get a notice like this, call the number on the back of your card!

This number is NOT LEGITIMATE! IT'S A SCAM: PLEASE READ BELOW.1) CHASE would not ask you for any of your card information; they have all of this information so any entity purporting themselves as CHASE is not. Period!2) This number is NOT listed as related to CHASE on their official secure site. Please verify!3) You cannot determine if something is legitimate based on what number it comes from. Technology allows for the re-routing of numbers so a scammer can easily mask themselves as CHASE if they wanted to (including official letter head, recordings, etc.) so please always remember... A. Chase would never ask you for your card / banking account information. B. Don't call numbers (go to websites) that are nested in messages. Use numbers / links you know! C. Pay attention to details. Spammers are becoming notorious for changing URLs by just one character or replicating letterheads, etc. If you are ever in doubt, go to your CHASE representative directly! Thank you and be careful!
