No, this can't be a legitimate call from Chase, based on the experience I just had! DON'T give these people your information if they call you!!!! This number is listed on numerous other websites as a number that scams come from.
Confirmed with Chase - this number is 100% FRAUDULENT.Don't be fooled by the shill postings folks - this is a phishing fraud!!
I got this message to call this number about my compromised card and I don't have a Chase card soooooo would have to believe that this is a a fake message.
800.978.8664 is a legit number from Chase debit card fraud prevention department. They called me and left a message when they detected suspicious activity in my account. I called Chase at the main number printed on the back of my debit card and confirmed that 800.978.8664 is from their debit card fraud prevention department. They then transfered me to that department and there was a pending charge on my business account that I didn't make.
I got a call from this number, googled it, came to this page and then called the number on the back of my Chase card instead. They told me the call was legitimate and that they were shutting down my debit card and issuing me a new one because mine may have been potentially compromised.She explained that sometimes if there is some sort of information or security breach with a company you use your debit card with they will take proactive measures to protect your account.The phone call is legit, but as another stated, it's best to not give your information out and just call the number on the back of the card.
800-978-8664 is 100% legit.I work for Chase & this IS a valid phone number to the Debit card Fraud department.If you get a call from this number & dont want to give any info then call the number on the card & ask for the Debit card fraud deptYou may get a call from this number but they ask you to call 877-572-0188, that is the same department but it is the automated system.
I got a call from 800 978 8664 and also thought it was fake, but I called the # listed on the back of my card and they advised YES that's our fraud dept. and they transfered me... but I hung up and called chase again - explained the same thing without giving them the # and then they gave me the # of 800 978 8664. ITS a valid #!

Claims to be from a roofing team. Somehow knows real name and city. I keep getting texts like this from different numbers, they stop responding when I ask how they have my number.
