This number has called my restaurant numerous times daily. They do not say anything when calling. It is spam and I want it to stop!
I use this database to make a decision about whether or not to accept an out of state call, while my wife simply accepts no out-of-state calls, except those from persons in her personal phone directory. In my case, I feel the best approach is hers after first identifying all 800 numbers associated with those you do business with, such as your health insurancer and its related programs like mail order pharmacies, Silver Sneakers and support programs for general health or medical conditions, charities you donate to, out of state doctors you have seen or want an appointment with, etc.The other alternative is just to block numbers one at a time, which I do, and tell those you do business with to leave a message, including doctors who need written permission now to leacve confidential messages meant just for the patient.Every phone seems capable of blocking phone numbers, if not directly, by leaving a blank message for that group of phone numbers you categorize it in, but I like the approach of using a Skype or Google Voice phone number that only forwards calls you haven't blocked which keeps your cell phone directory from getting clogged with unwanted phone numbers.
first received call from Restricted Number, didn't answer, then call from this number.I assume its same people....???I, too, do not answer calls not familiar to me.
Nothing but dead air but in the background I could hear some noise. I hung up the phone after a couple of seconds of them not speaking to me.
In case you are wondering why this happens, callers that start with no words, I believe it is a technical issue for telemarketers and some other businesses. The call is not connected with a person unless you say something or the next real person is available to talk to you and the company didn't bother to record a waiting message with a music background.Annoyingly some real people will never start the conversation even though they called you because of their own mental health problems. They should at least apologize when they call the wrong number instead of hanging up when the expected voice doesn't answer.I once had a co-worker whose wife was oddly enough a teacher, yet she never answered the phone or the doorbell, or went to parties with him, leaving the people to people interactions to her husband. He threatened to divorce her over it, and she said credibly that she would commit suicide if he did. He didn't want that so instead he got his social interactions at home and in the Shriners. Otherwise his response was to 12 hour days and take a second job on weekends so he didn't have to spend much awake time at home. He couldnt just have her put in a mental hospital because the laws of the state they lived in required proof she would be a danger to herself or others and in his generation mental hospitals didn't have a good reputation becuase of electro shock without even sedation. He would have had a much funner life if he had married someone else. Instead he practically worked until he died, survived by his reclusive wife presumably. Maybe the owners of some of these telemarketer companies are just as mentally screwed up. Why would anyone wait through a period of silence?
Caller asked to speak to one of the owners on her calling list. Caller said she represented Desktop Engineering a free trade magazine. She said she was calling to update the mailing information and did not need to speak to this person if unavailable. We do not subscribe to this magazine or any others from them. Beware.
BE WARNED!! I've posted to this thread before about this place who calls asking for our employees to renew a magazine subscription. Well, just a short while ago I get a call from them. I answer and the lady asks for one of our employees and right when she asks for him, she actually tells me that she is returning his call, that he just called them. First of all, the person she is looking for is on vacation. I said he was not in, and she asks for his assistant. I said he didn't have one. After she hung up, I dialed the number and the call will not even go thru. If she calls back, I'll make sure to ask how he called when the number is not a working call back number.
