This number called me 5 times in a row, all within 1 min. Now I’ve called AT&T before and it takes me through a series of automated bullsh*t for about 10 mins before talking to a live operator. Not with this number. I didn’t even get to press 2 to speak in English. Right away a “AT&T” operator answered. That just seems to damn easy to get through to AT&T. I call BULLSH*T on this whole thing. First off AT&T NEVER calls me, especially 5 times in a row in less than a min.
Person comes to my house and tried to arrange a change on my AT&T Service. He was talking about UVERSE and some other stuff. Then he get me on the phone with a lady from the at&t office somewhere. well he punched in this number and i went back and looked at the re-dial to get it in case he doesnt come back. he was to meet a coworker and come back and attempt to resolve a computer issue the person on the phone was having with my address not working in their computer system. it has been an hour and he hasnt returned. i did give my SS# to the [***] on the phone so we shall see where this one goes. remember this was an outgoing call from my home phone to their connection/service/center via the salesman.
NEVER give out your SS# to ANYONE!!! I don't even give it out at doctors' offices anymore. CALL THE POLICE and file a report!
They already have your information on their screen. They can either ask you for your SSN or a series of seven other questions. They do it just to make sure that it is YOU, not just someone looking through your garbage for your name or something. The person on the phone should have told you about another way to verify who you are.
A person came to my home selling AT&T U-verse. When I told her, I wanted to change to this service and she completed an "Order Worksheet", she call this number. After she gave the person on the line some information, I was asked to talk to the person. He claimed that AT&T needed to get a credit report to complete the work order and asked for my SS number. Since I have been an AT&T customer for 35+ years, in the same home, I did not give him the SS number. Then he asked me enough questions (AT&T account number, employer name, birthday, etc.) that I believe he may still be able to get my credit information. I have completed a fraud alert with Equifax.
That is how they do the credit check. There is no need for a report. The police will tell you that it is the real #. if you call it press 2 and then 2 once more it takes you to a REAL AT&T call center rep.
just had the same experience, fortunatly my wife is smarter than me and kicked him out and we call the cops...
I work for AT&T this is officialAT&T line. They called me after I had my U-Verse fixed to make sure that the problem was no longer there. Thanks
