I answered the phone and no one responded to my hello. Then the line hung up after about 20 seconds.
We keep getting calls from 520-798-4152 tuscon, az on the caller id and they say they are with the census bureau but it doesnt show on the caller-id and they dont know why. They say we need to call 866-564-5432 - want me to take a 13 minute phone survey on health insurance
Caller ID was 812.218.3144, and the callback # was 866.564.5432, so I checked for postings on this #. They also call from 520.798.4152 and 240.420.6029 and are seeking information on types of employee benefits offered, health insurance, etc. Why would the "Census Bureau" call call from all these different numbers to talk about health insurance. Sounds phishy. We do not give out information to strangers, especially when their identities cannot be verified.
It looks like a scam, they kept on calling me at work, so I checked on the US Census Bureau website for verification, and on the website, they said that they only contact businesses through internet/mail, NOT phone calls. Plus, I can't find that number anywhere on their website, and as previous reviewers had mentioned, they're calling from a different number.
We received a voice message claiming to be from the U.S. Census Bureau, asking us to return the call to 866-564-5432 and reference a "case number." I called and they said it was the U.S. Census Bureau doing a phone call survey regarding company healthcare programs. I asked if the survey was voluntary or mandatory. I was told it was voluntary, and I then declined to participate. The gentleman was polite, thanked me for my time and for returning the call, and wished me a pleasant day. I'm 99% sure it was legit.
I got the same call today as business owner 28 Jul 2014. I did not call back based on his post that indicated that this was voluntary.
I can verify that this number is legitamate as i am one of the census callers at this number. This is the number used to dial in to the census call center. It would not match the outgoing number on caller id as there are 3 call centers accross the us in maryland, indiana, and arizona. The dial in number allows the computer system to direct you to an available person. If you receive a call from somone claiming to be the census bureau, you can always ask for verification. We provide several options for verification of both our callers and our studies. If you are interested in information on the study associated with this particular phone number, the website for the study is: www.Meps.Ahrq.Govthere you can find the results of the study for the last 20 years.
I also called one of the official us census bureau phone numbers and they were able to verify that this was a valid census phone number.
