In my case this was a legit call from a fraud prevention service my bank uses. It came in about three minutes after I ordered a software update from a European vendor on line. Automated voice had all the right info about my account and only asked for partial number info for verification.
This is a legit number, I worked for the fraud prevention services for visa. If you receive a fraud call take it- it's a second layer of protection. If you feel skeptical then yes ask for your case number and say you are going to verify this phone number with your local branch and who ever took your call will 100% understand. As of 2014 visa no longer states the call coming from visa but as your Banks fraud prevention services. If received a fraud call you DO NOT have to provide your card number. It is helpful though. But if still not wanting to provide the full card we can search for a case by your phone number you were originally contacted by.To verify you're the person needing to be spoken to if you do not verify your information in the premessage we would ask for your dob or address- information personal but not too personal.
Was suspicious about this number but was able to confirm with my bank that it's legit. I called and the automated system recited 3 recent transactions to confirm them. I was NOT asked to provide my full info (not name, address, card number, bank account). My bank did say that if they annoy verify info they might shut off your card.
I think you have identified *yourself* as a scammer trying to cover his tracks. I have gotten a couple of calls from them over the years, and they are legit.
There's no need to debate whether or not it's legit. Call the number on the back of your card and ask.IMO they shouldn't be using robocalls for this kind of business. I would never respond to an unsolicited recorded call concerning my finances, but in my experience, this call has indeed been legit. I've had a couple of calls from them over the years, and my bank (Sterling, now Umpqua) confirms that they do fraud monitoring.
I entered the number of my Visa card on an Amazon purchase. I had not use that card on Amazon before. Then I got three Robo calls from this company claiming to be my banks fraud prevention services. The messages said that all I would need to provide was a code number. I called them back, and they also wanted my phone number, address, last 4 SS, and birthdate. I was willing to provide the code they left on VM, my phone number, ZIP Code and nothing else. That triggered an alert and my card was blocked.I called my bank, and there was a fraudulent charge on my card. I am grateful that someone caught the fraudulent charge. However, I am suspicious that they themselves may have put it on my card!Perhaps they are legit, perhaps they are part of my bank, but I'm still not entirely certain. Their way of handling alerts is odd. I have never had fraudulent charges on any card before, and how they handled the Robo phone calls doesn't earn my trust. However, I am grateful for this website! I'm grateful to find out that other people have also been through this.
This is a legitimate company. I recently made a few micro transactions and they called to verify. You do not have to have your card number. The case number they give you will suffice. Also, they do not request any information that could be used for fraudulent means. They request the case number, the last four of your Social Security, and then ask you to verify specific purchases. I have delt with this service on a few occasions. If you have Sterling Savings, now Umpqua Bank, this is their service. Your can call the bank or go directly in and have them there while you call. If this number is calling you, your card will be unusable as Visa has voided it until you call, which is another indicator that it is not fraudulent.
This really WAS my bank's fraud department. I hung up on he automated call and called the customer service department to speak to a real person. They closed my debit card because two items were declined. The two items ARE fraudulent, both from Kickstarter. It looks like someone hacked into my KS account. Haven't spoken with KS yet but wanted to let you all know the number isn't spam or fraud. The bank is sending me a new debit card.
said they had gone back over records for a contest they had, my name come up on the $25,000 prize, give us a call, congratulations!
