This number called my cell phone. They left a recorded message stating they had my name and number and that they had very good news for me. The phrasing suggested I had won something. This is probably a scam.

Recorded voice congratulated me for winning a $25,000 prize that I had submitted for within the past eight months. Told me to return call to 888-219-7001. But I returned the call to the 866# instead, and got a recorded message "Welcome to Verizon Conferencing" and was told this # was not in service. So I called the 888 number, and was thanked for calling "The Gift Redemption Department", invited to enter the extension of the person I was trying to reach or hold on for an operator. I held on through some really bad music, then a woman picked up. She again thanked me for calling "The Gift Redemption Department", and asked how she could help me. I told her I was returning a call. She said if I received a call about winning $25,000, it was because I had entered some contest within the last eighTEEN months (not eight, per original message). I asked her what company she worked for, and she repeated, "The Gift Redemption Department". I asked her what contest I had entered, and she hung up. Interestingly, all accents were American.

Wanted credit card information, said card had been used without permission.

They don't ask for your dang number! The last 4. The last 4 of SSN to verify identity. Then they ask you to verify a couple of charges. It is legit.
