I don't know if is Apple or not, but the only thing I care is that the FBI, the police, or somebody who gives a s..t should investigate and do something about it. Like other people I have to cancel my credit card, and not only that my bank is going to take for ever to resolve this, sorry to say but I have a horrible bank, I'm so mad!!!!!!! but I guess with this experience I have to be more careful, is just unfair that people that work and put the money in the bank where your money supposed to be safe have to deal with this kind of crap!!!!!
*These people have nothing to do with Apple and you do not even have to HAVE an Apple account to be hit by them* The same phone number, according to my bank, uses a variety of different business names to steal from customers. They choose something many of us use (Apple, recurring website charges, gyms, etc) in the hopes that it will go undetected. They will often start by removing a small amount that may not be noticed, before wiping out the account. In our case, the transaction was on a debit card. The quick solution was to cancel it and have a new one reissued. I have LifeLock and this got by them; I check our accounts multiple times a day and caught it myself. Our bank is refunding the amount, and we are considering filing a police report, though we do not know if it will do any good.
Sir, do not bother calling that number: it will send you directly to the scammers. You will want to contact your bank and tell them the charge was incurred via fraud. At that point, they will likely refund your money and reissue you a new card to prevent these people from using yours again.
Same here. The charges were small or smallish and I did not notice them or thought perhaps my son had made them. Nope. They ended up totaling $70. in two months. I took my method of payment off of my iTunes account and it stopped. I just faxed in the overages to PayPal since it went on their debit card that pulls off my bank account. I tried calling that number and just got a fast busy. Apple said that it was not their store and there was nothing they could do about it. Sad and glad I'm not the only one. This was the only fraudulent charge on my iTunes account. Probably an inside job.
I am still waiting for a reply from Apple iTunes regarding two gift cards - $100 & $50 - that we have been unable to use. I was told that they were redeemed, but we have not used them at all. I went to an Apple Store in Palm Desert, CA and I got more information about the same as the person I talked to on the phone. I was given a phone number to call and I cannot get a "live" person there. And this morning I have a charge against my BoA Visa card that we did not make. What is going on?
This scam is still alive and well. Wow. How is that in 2013 that credit card companies can't recognize fraudulent merchant numbers?I saw a charge for $1.03 on my credit card account. An account that I have not used in several months. Please note-- I do not use the card and do not have it linked with any apple product.Called my credit card immediately and they informed me that another $1.03 charge was just put on today and that a cash advance was requested. I was also told that a few 'pending' charges were done earlier in the month but I couldn't see those on my statement because they never went through. It was explained to me that is what these scammers do. They test the number to check if it is active. Lovely. The good news is that it was caught in time before damage was done.If you are reading these reports and are hesitating on reporting your card then good luck with that.Even if you have doubts and have your card linked with apple products then why don't you go check to see if you made a purchase that matches it?
