Call saying police Association of New York. Problem is they don't have typical ny accent!!! Tools them they were scamming -- having phones in one room. Told woman to go collect cans and bottles instead of scamming.Woman said marketing was her job. Just give them a fake credit card# or put them on hold for a few minutes while you go to toilet !!!!
I have been called quite a few times from this company, I thought the person calling was a policeman. I told them I wasn't working but would try to send $10, they transferred me to another person and asked for a comment and said they would send an envelope. Something about the paperwork I received made me uncomfortable and I decided to check them out online, found out the was basically a scam. They should not be able to represent themselves that way!
Got a call from someone who wanted a donation for the Police Association of New York, sounded good with gold, silver, and bronze pledges. Then they asked for a credit card, I asked them to send a letterhead so that I may write a check. Also if they have a webpage. The webpage is broken (nysapba.com, if you're curious) and the letterhead is plain with a poorly made decal. Either this is a very elaborate scam or a genuine organisation. It's getting tough to tell.

It is a legit PNC Bank phone no. I wrote out a $12000. check and they called to verify and had the last 3 digits of checking acct. on message.
