totally legit - It's Citi Bank - applied for a American Airlines credit card - they called to verify that it was me that applied.

Same here - they leave messages for "Nicholas Pelosi", but if I "press any key to continue" they hang up. Annoying. They say they are calling about a "recent request into your Citi account."

Calling about a Citi bank credit card account? can't tell if its a scam or not cause i have a citibank account. makes me nervous so I don't continue with the conversation

I got a message on my phone this morning from saying Citi Bank has questions regaurding my recent application and telling me to call this number. I just applied for the AA card by Citi Bank last night so I thought ok maybe it really is regarding that, but I would go back to the site and get the number from there to be sure. Just got a call not long after from that number, a recorded message saying the same thing, stated my name, told me to press 1 to continue, I wasn't sure if I should, but did anyway and they just put me on hold for a long time waiting for a rep. Meanwhile I was looking up the number and saw everyones comments about not being sure so I hung up just in case

They're legit. I talked to them, then called Citibank (at a number I *knew* was theirs) to make sure it was really from them, and they said it was.

I just spoke with a supervisor from Citibank through a number that was listed on their official website and was able to confirm that this is a safe number and that I've been getting the correct calls. Don't worry too much about this like I did!

Solicitor. Called my work number and told me to call back with a code. Did not have my correct last name and I don't use my work number for anything, so I'm not sure how they got it.

Me too... just applied for a Citi AA card and just wanted to check it out before calling. Got a text prior to that with the same information. Thanks all for your comments and research.

p.s.. i also received an email at the address i submitted on the application yesterday.

I tried to call back three times, but it kept repeating "all representatives are busy". I am curious if this is the real legal number. I compare the email they sent me and the email from citibank, i find their logo "citi" have different colors. So i believe this number is a trick! Be safe, don't call back !
