they called me today saying the were from citibank and that my home depot payment was deliquent. Interesting since I made two payments on that card since the last bill. On top of that I have the current bill at home not even due for another week. Then the woman asked me to make a payment ! Then for my home address and if the number she was calling was for a home or cell phone and for my email address. I told her that no I wasn't making any phone payments (which they would have charged for) what would it matter if it were home or cell since she reached me and if I have an account why would they need my home address. I obioviously got the bill because I paid it and why would I give them an email address. I no longer use Home depot credit card since they wanted to charge me more interest on the balance by increasing the credit rate for everyone. I opted out. But here's the interesting part I just changed my phone number about a month ago. guess who wasn't on the list to get it.
Every few weeks I see this # ring. I won't answer. They never leave a message which in it's self tells me SCAM... IRRITATES ME this call usually wakes me after a long night with person I care for daily.
To B101 and Resident47, you are both IDIOTS. If the caller was from a real card company they would tell you what card was delinquent and why. They wouldn't beat around the bush and ask for your account details, and they would leave a proper message with the details. I work for Citi. Citi won't call for Home Depot, Shell, Radio Shack or any other the other companies the caller claims they represent. I've received calls from this number. I don't use the number they called for any of my cards. I have checked with the fraud department and they don't have the number in Citi accounts. So you two morons should stop spouting the "I must be guilty" talk. Sounds like you work for the fraudulent 877 number. Why would you be responding to these people if you didn't have something at stake. Why would you put this number in a web search to find the complaints if this didn't concern you. All other should contact the FCC if you think this is fraudulent. Do not go to the FCC web site provided on this site. Go directly from a web search off this site.Good Luck
Fred:Who's the monkey now?Only a moron would admit to working for CITI, under these circumstances.Citi has a very nasty reputation for collection abuses. Think about it,Mr. Fred...If Citi was straight-up in the first place, why should they hide behinda fake, contrived phone number? Problem is, that they really do engage in this fraudulent practicelike many other companies and collectors. So-tell me Freddy Boy...Who's hiding now?
Citi customer service # is 1-800-374-9700. i will be putting that number on about 100 online colleges and job sites so that Citi can be inconvenienced as much as i have been by them. would anyone like to go all in with this idea? :)
fred- i know for a fact that this number is with citibank in regards to my radioshack card- of which i paid the balance off several months ago. i have no idea why they continue to call me, i have no balance left to pay- so i looked up the number to be sure and found this thread. if you are indeed with citi you are incredibly unprofessional and if that is the representation you want to make of your company than you are not a respectable or good employee. however- i am not in support of citi so i wish all the crappy employees of the world upon them. everone has the right to their oppinion, and some people on this thread have been very helpful and positive. thank you! and good luck with these phone calls. the best way to deal with them is to answer- directly ask to speak with a supervisor, and deal with the situation.
