Multiple calls a day and then finally a message is left about being a valued citibank customer and to please log in to view my account at a specified website.
Folks, I hate to tell you but this is a real number for Citibank. When they called asking for me to log on and review my account I couldn't figure out why as I don't have a Citi card.....or at least I thought I didn't. Turns out American Airlines is through Citi and I had accidentally forgotten to pay my bill this month. Just an FYI.
I also got a call from this number. I let go to the answering machine. Something about my account. Gave a web address. When i called the number on the phone they say their citi bank, and wanted my soc sec. Number. I kept say customer re.Presentative. They kept insisting soc. Sec. Number. I checked my card . It was different number and the call id said 8775875726 checked my bills number not even close, :( this really ticks me off;9
Calls at least 2 to 3 times every day for weeks saying I should log into my Citibank account
Because companies (even legitimate companies) use automated calling systems with a recorded message not all answering machines or even voice mail systems cause the automated recording to realize that the call was answered by the system and therefor will not leave a message. You are better off answering the call to get to a person. Yes, in this instance the number is a legitimate company, Citibank who manages Shell and Sears just to name a few. Perhaps you unknowingly missed a payment or perhaps someone opened a card in your name, you should not dismiss these calls as scams until you actually answer the phone.
Its Sunday morning 8:45 am. I just got a call. there goes that theory :)I hate these guys. I talked to them yesterday. a woman with terrible English. she knew my name and that I had a citi visa. but she was fishing for more info. there were sounds in the background like someone clattering pots in a kitchen. maybe the scam is a franchise that lets people work from home.
nope. this one's a scam. they've changed their caller ID to the Citibank number. but the caller was a non English speaker from Middle East, India, Pakistan etc.
They started spamming my home phone yesterday. I received 5 calls yesterday. I finally picked up they asks for some person when I mentioned they weren't here and they had the wrong number they hangup before I could even ask them to remove my number. I figured that would be it until i go home this morning to 3 missed calls all from this number. Finally tonight I lost my cool and called the number back. The first person was a female and when I went off on her telling her she needed to delete my number before I report her she hungup so I called again even more annoyed and the male said they were with citibank calling about a Travis Millar. Kept asking for my name and I told them that Im not a MR travis Milliar that I am in fact a woman and that this is a new home number and they need to remove my name. They finally did or so he says if they continue there will be hell to pay and I dont care who they think they are I will NOT allow someone to spam my home phone in a harassing manner every 3 or 4 hours a day especially at night when my children are sleeping! My advice block them.
