A Mr. Hall called and left message to call at 1-877-593-3955 EXt 3560 but this is not a working number

Is this really Social Security? Message left about a claim I filed (which I did). Reluctant to call :-(

I received a call from a woman claiming to be Terry Hayman at the Social Security Office. She left a message that if I had any questions concerning my social security application I should call her at 877-593-3955 extension 62719. When I returned the call the voice mail said I had reached social security and to press 1 if I had enter an extension to enter. I did and got a message in the same voice as the original call and that I reached Terry Hayman but that she was busy and if I wanted a call back to leave my telephone no and Social Security number and she would call back in the order in which the calls were received. I never received a call. When I called back I received the same message. However when I call a 3rd time the message was completely different and was asking me to press 1 if I was of retirement age or # if not. When I hit # I received another message saying I had won soem prize. I hung up. This is not Social Security. They are phishing for your SSN.

Today is Saturday and I received a call claiming to be from Social Security Office. The caller said she was working on my application which I had recently filed and was offering me a large sum of money for a one time payout if I wanted to back start my payments. She appeared to be hurrying me to make a decision soon. She called back several times and left messages. The number appearing on my phone was an actual social security number. I was to call back 877-593-3955 to complete this transaction. This is a fraud and the are looking for SSN. Be careful!

Call was in reference to a Social Security claim (which was filed). How do they get this info? I'm reporting this.

This phone number is legitimate. I work in this office. We are part of the Workload Support Unit with the Social Security Administration. We screen all internet applications filed for Retirement and Medicare and we do make phone calls when we have questions about your application. You can confirm all employees by contacting your local SSA office and they can verify who is working on your application and where the office is located.

Sometimes SSA employees work on Saturdays for overtime, when our workload gets backlogged. If you are ever concerned about whether someone from SSA is contacting you, you can always verify with your local SSA office who is assigned your case and where his/her office is located. Unfortunately, this was not fraud, and this person genuinely was trying to assist you.

We received a call from Russell from 410-965-1234, concerning our application for SSA benefits. He asked that we call him back at 877-593-3955, at a 5 digit extension. We did apply online for benefits, but have not yet had an opportunity to call him back.
