It turns out this number is really from Bank of America's fraud dept. I wasn't expecting this call so I assumed it was a scam. Turns out some fraudster attempted to open a credit card account in my name. Despite being rather hygienic online (no Facebook, Twitter, Inst, Tik Tok), the mindless corporate rush into the "cloud" without regard to security has left us all vulnerable to global data thieves. Personal info on hundreds of millions of folks on the dark web provides a cornucopia for bottom feeders to do their worst. BofA had it together enough to detect something was amiss in this case and rejected the application. They were just reaching out to confirm and alert me. I called the one of the credit bureaus and placed a 'fraud alert' on my account. Setting it on one will propagate to the other two credit bureaus. So now if my credit rating is accessed (e.g. triggered by an attempt to open a credit line in my name), I will be informed.
Received a call from this number claiming to be from Bank of America. That's all I could make out of the subject matter as she sounded stressed and spoke rapidly with an Indian accent. I did catch something about a reference number and the callback phone number. She sound like she may have been making this call under duress for some thugs who would be behind this operation.
Left a message about a fraudulent matter. I have been dealing with proven fraud at other banks after a data breach got my info, so I thought this was legit. They take your information, tell you it's a debit card issued in your name, then transfer you to someone who wants to verify your authenticity and will call back in 30 seconds. They do not. They hang up the phone and go nuts with your SSN, birthdate, etc.
Got a call today from a man claiming he was from the Fraud department of Bank of America. He had some details about me and I asked to call back. when calling back later asking for the company name, I found out out it had changed to the Fraud department of the "Card Company". Hung up...
I received a message on my machine from a blocked number. They left this number to call back. First of all the audio quality was quite bad and it "ironically" got worse when she mentioned the name of the company she was calling from, to the point that you couldn't tell. She also did not sound professional AT ALL. She sounded like someone who had no idea what they were doing, stuttering and stopping for moments."calling to um... ask you a few questions regarding your recent request... um... financial request. If you could please give us a call..."of course the connection was crystal clear when she said the phone number.I called twice and both times the person said the same name while using different voices. Definitely fishy. Answers claiming to be "Card Services."
got a message from "card services" asking us to call ASAP to verify a financial transaction. they left a reference number and hours to call (M-F 8am-12am EST). Message was hard to hear. No mention of a specific type of credit card company. After research on this phone number, it sounds like fraud. DO NOT CALL OR GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!
"I just got a call from these "card services" also. i was going to give them a call, after looking at this, good thing i didn't
I applied for a card at B of A. Later in the day I got a call from these people. Somehow they got my info. Something seemed fishy - so I hesitated and looked them up on the site. No number like that on their site.
I have also experienced the same thing in recent days after I applied for credit card. But, my question is how do they get our personal information? Are these people insiders? what does the bank has to say about them?
