I just got a letter in the mail today. Letter on plain paper with no letterhead or logo, with QR codes and official-looking numbers along the side. Application turned down due to insufficient information on application. Looking back, I know better and should have been more wary. I haven't had a Macy's account in over a decade. I got rattled, though, thinking that someone was trying to open an account in my name and, without thinking, called the number on the letter. After a long time on hold, I talked to a nice lady, Laura, who asked me to verify my address, birthdate, last four of SS...all the info I should have never given. I sure wish these people would get real jobs instead of trying to steal money from those of us who work hard for it.
