Just received the same letter. The return address is: P.O. Box 982236, El Paso TX 79998-2236.I called the real Bank of America at 1-800-432-1000. They believe the letter is fraudulent. They would not send such a letter. I asked if they wanted to see it, since this is obviously mail fraud. They said I should take it to my nearest BoA, and the bank will know what to do.It's a tough world out there!

Received same letter in my POB today regarding husbands death. Husband is not deceased and we no longer have accounts at BOA.

I went into my local BoA. They had never heard about this letter, but opened an investigation file. I received word from them that the letter is legitimate, and it was OK to call the number on the letter.I did so, and I was immediately asked to provide personal information about my Mom, "for verification purposes". I refused. I asked if my local bank could take care of this. They said that was possible.At this point, I could either shred the letter and forget about the whole thing, or pursue it with my local branch.

Recieved same letter for my dad! They were wanting a copy of my House Insurance. This is scary and has to be fraud. I am so glad I googled about this and saw y'alls post. Thanks for sharing your post. I will be saving the letter and putting it in a file just incase i get more.

If the deceased had a VISA credit card issued by FIA Card Services, you may be receiving the referenced letter. FIA Card Services is owned by Bank of America. If you can find an old FIA Card Services statement, you will see the same PO Box 982235, El Paso Texas. Call the Customer Services number on that statement 1.800.441.7787. They will explain the situation, about BoA's new policies, and pretty much apologize for the way the letter was sent out.

I got the same letter after receiving a B of A credit card issued to my deceased mother (nine years ago) at my address, at which my mother never resided. As I was an executor, they somehow combined my address with my mother's name and issued a card (after her death!!). While the letter may be real, this type of thing is sleazy for the Bank of America to do!

I got the same letter as mentioned above, Bank of America, about my deceased father's accounts and assets. They were requesting documentation from us, but didn't list anything specific and left us with their mailing address and number to call. As soon as I held the paper, being and looking very homemade, knew this was something VERY fishy. I have took care of things with the local bank before I received this, and another factor was that I don't reside at the home address they have sent the letter to .. DO NOT SEND or give them your information! It is best to take care of important things in person.

RECEIVED THE SAME LETTER DAVE RECEIVED SAYING THEY JUST LEARNED FROM A THIRD PARTY VENDOR OF MY MOTHERS DEATH AND NEED SOME DOCUMENTATION TO HANDLE HER ACCOUNTS AND ASSETS. THE NUMBER GIVEN IS 1-888-689-4466 TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY NEED AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER TO REFER TO. I DO NOT PLAN TO SEND ANY INFORMATION BECAUSE I REALIZED THAT THIS WAS FRAUD FROM THE BEGINNING. MY MOTHER TOOK CARE EVERYTHING BEFORE SHE DIED.

Received the same letter from BOA -no blue and red logo on letter. Mom had a BOA Visa and checking account. Not too happy with BOA.

Ditto on the letter from BOA. Figured for sure it was a scam, so I googled the phone number and found I was among many they tried to scam. NOT HAPPENING!! Sham on someone who tries to take advantage of the loss of a loved one!!
