Got my credit card statement and saw a $52.37 charge and somehow figure it out that it was for my anti virus renewal; but wondered why it was done automatically, thinking that I should have been notified first like last year. Thus went on-line and saw this page and got the 1.877...# below. This is Computer Associates company, I called 1877.694.8509, pressed 1, was able to talk to a Customer Service Rep and was told that an e-mail was sent to me on Dec stating that it will be renewed automatically and if I don't want to renew that I click the link to cancel auto-renewal; but I couldn't remember if I got one and the e-mail is not in my inbox anymore as I may have deleted it already.Anyhow, I was given a refund reference # and that full refund will be issued to my card within the next 5 to 7 business days as it was within 60 days of purchase. I was also told that I will be getting an on-line notification within 24 hours stating that my license has expired and that I have to uninstall the software. It seems like a legitimate process, so I will see if all the above will happen and post an update on this site.Hope this sheds some light!
I ALSO GOT A CHARGE ON MY CREDIT CARD. CREDIT CARD CO. IS ISSUING ME A NEW CARD AS THIS IS CONSIDERED AN UNAUTHORIZED USE. .. THEY SIMPLY DID A REPEAT ON SOMETHING I ORDERED LAST YEAR
Don't know if they called, but they got my attention with an unathorized charge of $29.99 on my debit card, which also got me a $20.00 overdrawn bank fee. I had no idea who DRI*CA.COM was, then.. haven't used that CA in well over a year.. not even on my computer, since it crashed and most of the parts were replaced..maybe CA had something to do with that. I tracked them down through this helpful website..called them at 1-877 964-8509. They agreed to a refund..folowed up with a confirmation email..That was Sat..Today, Tues, my bank established the refund was in, before it showed on my account. The bank forgave their addditional fee. I asked thgem to revoke my debit card and issue another one. End of story, and headache. I will be more suspicious next time..May even purchase those "gift cards" for online purchases.. Good luck.
Hey, I also was just busted for the same thing $49.99 on my Master card with DRI*ca.com. I called my bank and mailed in a complaint. How can I complain to the U.S. Consumer Protection Agency and get my name off this list? Thank GEO.IV Tennessee
I was wrongfully charged from the same company on my Mastercard for $49.99. If you call them at 1-877-694-8509 and choose selection #1 they will work with you and give you a refund just as I did. Good luck and I hope all goes as well as it did for me.
DRI*ca.com is CA, the software solutions and anti-virus company. It could be that you renewed your subscription to them?
The exact same thing happened to me. Have you made any progress on your complain plans? Perhaps the simplest thing to avoid being unwillingly renewed for life is to ask the bank not to pay any withdrawals from DRI*.ca. BUT, a) that leaves those crooks still on the street, and b) that doesn't eliminate the possibility of being "renewed" again from a DRI*.ca renamed company
I received a $39.95 charge on my credit card with the notation DRI BITDEFENDER.COM phone 952-908-4089 MN. I tried BIT DEFENDER and found it worthless - in fact, worse than worthless, as it kept locking up my computer. This was about a year ago. Last November, I received a notification that my credit card was going to be billed unless I told them NO. I DID TELL THEM NO!, but they still charged my credit card in December. I'm now going to my bank tomorrow, and have them take the charge off.
I agree with people above it's from the CA anti-virus company, it's an automatic renewal. Call them if you don't want it renewed. Thanks for all the help.
Number: 877-694-8509. I was charged $59.99 on my credit card for a purchase from DRI*.ca.com that I did not make. It's from a company called Digital River, the "e-commerce partner" for Computer Associates (CA). I have been on hold with them now, going on 20 minutes (!). No one has come back on the line.Apparently, based on what I could find online, if you have EVER made a purchase of Computer Associates software through them, they will AUTOMATICALLY RENEW your credit card each year for an update of the software. I have not used CA's anti-virus program since 2007.See: Continuous Protection Notice* Continuous Protection provided by CA will keep your computer protected from the latest internet threats by automatically renewing your subscription at the then current renewal price (plus applicable tax). When you buy the download version of this product using your credit card, your subscription will automatically renew each year. CA will notify you by email each year prior to the expiration of your current subscription. Do nothing, and the then current subscription renewal price (plus applicable tax) will automatically be charged to your credit card, and you authorize Digital River, CA's e-commerce partner, to use the contact and billing information you provided for your purchase today to charge each renewal. If you do not want your subscription automatically renewed, you may discontinue Continuous Protection at any time. This order confirmation includes instructions above for how to cancel Continuous Protection. If you discontinue Continuous Protection, annual subscriptions are available for subsequent renewal. Continuous Protection is only available for U.S. and Canadian residents, only applies to purchases made by Credit Card, and only applies to Antivirus, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Spam, Personal Firewall and Internet Security Suite.###
