About the 3rd or 4th call from that number to my Magic Jack connected phone, and it just kept ringing after I didn't answer. I finally answered and said to myself "gonna take care of this once and for all". About a biz loan, and if I want more info, press 1, and to have my number removed press 2. I know pressing 2 seldom works, I pressed 1, some [***] guy I could barely understand answered and I said "Listen here, take me off your mother-f'ing call list right now, I am tired of getting these m-f-ing calls, and don't call back here", and I hung up. That is what you have to do -BE OFFENSIVE! Or they will keep calling you!
Called my cell at 2:33pm. Phone went off in my desk- nice to have that happen at work. Didn't leave a message & I do not intend to call them back. FYI- I'm on the Do not Call list already, but that's useless against scammers that don't care about the law.
Got a call about business loans. Decided to record the call (only got the pre-record part), and ended up fumble fingering the phone and didn't get '1' pressed fast enough. Darn it, I was planning on finding out as much about getting a business loan as I could as part of a lengthy, exhaustive conversation. Then let them know I'm not interested. While they would have been talking to me, they wouldn't be talking to anyone else. And they wouldn't make a sale. Which directly impacts their profits. If everyone that reads this site would take 10-20 minutes to talk to a telemarketer, imagine the reduction in profits it would make. Thousands of hours of talking to a 'hot lead' that never pans out, slowly eating away at their profitability. Not only that, but while talking to you, they aren't able to talk to the suckers that do make up their profits, adding insult to the injury. The only way to defeat them is to talk to them. Laws haven't done it. Technology hasn't done it. That only treats the symptoms. That's why they robocall from random numbers. That's why they tell you 'if you're not interested, hang up'. Because talking to you is expensive. It ties up the one limited resource they have - the Agent's time. That's is their Achilles Heel. And given the number of calls they make via auto-dialing, making the them answer and talk to as many people as possible will overwhelm them.
