The bogus number which appears on the caller id screen is 1-987-654-3210 which is a marketing company hired by Preferred Long Distance phone company based in Encino, CA. I've received 10 calls form them this week and finally gathered enough info in order to track down a contact. Here is the place to call if you'd like to be removed from the call list. Guy asked to talk to person in charge of my at&t account. I told him to call at&t and ask them. ha ha!
There is no such area code as 987. Plus if you look at the number sequence you will notice that there is no such number. Don't bother answering it. Some kind of scam.
Answered the person on the line said that they need to speak with "the person is charge of the AT&T account." I asked if I could take a message, and they hung up.

Scam. An attempt to get bank account information and then a request to transfer money to the scammer's account.
I called Frontiers official phone number 1-800-921-8105, the agent I spoke to gave me this scammer number, they pretend to be frontier and offer a rebate and ask you to provide your bank account info to “send” the rebate. I hung up
