What can be done to stop this from happening since there is a whole bunch of complains of the same number? And how did they get hold of our contact details? Where is the privacy here?

Of course you won't get anything, how do you bypass the operator dialing 0 as the first number, much less avoid an automated invalid message? Not likely any number starting with 0 is legitimate, so you're best off leaving it alone. Some of the spoofed numbers these bozos use give a good chance someone with crooked intent is on the other end, even looking for some as simple as seeing if you'll answer.

Most likely meant that call can't come from the US since area codes cannot begin with a 0 or 1 inside it as 0 works if calling overseas only. Knowing that, numbers appearing on IDs starting with either of those might look suspicious.

You can advise without being just plain rude. People are not children and you can be more considerate in your response. Try suggestion with politeness.

So I get a call from number 087 310 7556 to inform me that my cell number has been selected for a smartphone and tablet promotion. I inform the lady that I just got a new phone and I already have a tablet but before I could finish my sentence, the rude woman hung up! I tried calling the number back but the line kept engaged.All I can say to this clearly unprofessional and rude company, try calling me again.

These are unsolicited calls. What is concerning is where they obtain personal cel numbers since almost all services boast an airtight Privacy Policy
