They do call your place of employment and reporting doesn't seem to accomplish anything.

They would have to be able to figure out who the agency really is to do anything. This kind of stuff has been going on for years. Most of it is fake companies. I don't know how they can be stopped

Just received this message via v/m stating I have an unpaid pay day loan for the amount of 1500 asking for payment with no additional proof.thus I'd a scam!

Same thing for me, told me to call back within 4 hours. Just received the call yesterday, but got two calls last month from them. Everytime I try to call back it says noone is available to take the call. Once I pushed 7 like it says to talk to someone and they hung up on me when I asked for proof that I owed something, since I know for a fact that I don't. But it gets worse, they somehow found my sons phone number and left the message on his voicemail, for MY NAME, and he panicked! Crazy A-Holes, I wish I could get someone to answer now!

Just started to receive phone calls saying I will need to go to court or monies to be taken from my pay check. Caller did not leave name. Does anyone know the name of this company . The phone number they gave me to call back was 202-417-2021.

I also have received the same phone call on my cell phone from the same company. Call within 4 hours..go to court...restraining order...remedy my wages..yadda, yadda, yadda....I have been dealing with these people for 3 years now. They call work, they call family and whoever else they can call. I have gotten violent threats from them..threatening to come and burn my house down, beat my family to death...etc...the list goes on and on. They hang up on me when I use legal terms with them. They say I owe them thousands for a Payday loan...Ummm....I've never taken out a payday loan in my life. This is extremely frustrating. They take harassment to all new levels...I have a new job and I guess I should probably call them to let them know that they may receive phone calls...I haven't been called in a while. An interesting thing..if you are going to report them, create a google voice account. It's free...call them back through google voice...go ahead and give them your name...no more info..you can then hang up! they will then change your number to your google voice phone number. They will start calling you almost immediately on the google voice number. All calls will then go into your email as a TRANSCRIBED voicemail..then you have written proof of their messages and something to send into the FTC..also the FBI Internet Crimes Division. These people got your information from something you applied for online or from an online website or from being hacked.

was given a call with threats and told to call within 4 hours or would be taken to court someone would show up at my home they would get my employment information to file against my taxes and get some kind of restraining order. and yet they will not give me any information for me to find out who they are trying to collect from me.

Also received a call from this number. They called yesterday morning and informed me that I had an outstanding payday loan with Advance America. However the address they have on file for me is over 15 years old, but they somehow managed to get my new cell phone number. When I spoke to them, they threatened to charge me with fraud if I did not settle the outstanding loan amount for a lower amount, and proceeded to ask me for my debit card number, expiration date, and security code. After doing some research I came to find out that this scam has been going on since at least 2010. Do NOT give them any information! According to FTC regulations, collectors must provide you with the name of the company they work for, their address, who they represent, specific dates and amounts, and an employee ID – none of which I was provided with. Do not engage with these people. They managed to get two names that I might have used as references and had me panicked for a moment.

Got a robo message for someone not living here anymore indicating legal action - restraining order and other such nonsense if didn't call within 4 hours. Didn't call - will not call - wish that the FTC would stop these people from harassing good citizens. Don't fall for it and thank you for having this web resource available to clarify this abuse of our phone system.
