The security system scammers are using a whole new set of numbers today...We have gotten at least 6 calls on different business lines in the last 3 hours or so.
I doubt anyone is giving out your cell number. The scammers are randomly dialing numbers regardless of do-not-call list, cell phone, whatever. They make money on every call due to some loopholes in the laws and how charges are applied for caller ID lookups. Our business has a block of 1000 phone numbers. So far today we have received a call about every hour on a different number with the same idiotic message about putting a sign in the yard. The caller ID is the number reported here and three others, so far.
That is the worst you can do. Going through their dialing system just proves to the robot you are an actual person and you then are moved up to a more valuable list.
I received a call at 1:12 this afternoon. I did not answer since I did not recognize the number; instead I looked up the area code and number on google and found this page. Now I will label the number as "scammer." Thanks all.
