Computerized call stating that social security# is compromised and I should press 1. Obviously I did not.
I receive calls from his number every day about four times a day at all times. The do not say anything and just sit there for a long time then hang up. It is really annoying. When I returned the call, it answered that it was an unassigned number at ABC. Very strange.
Got several calls from this guy. I could see it on my caller id. Finally one evening when I picked up, I spoke with him. I thought it was an Indian accent and I could hear other operators in the background. He wanted to walk me through the fixing of my computer because it was sending messages to them that my computer's IP address had been compromised. I pretended to do as he said. I was to turn on the computer, press control, and the button two over to the right with the windows symbol on it. Then I was to read what was on my computer screen. When I told him I couldn't do it and asked for his number so my husband could call him back to fix this, he gave me a different number to call back. He didn't want me to call the number back that was on my caller id. So, I wrote down the number and waited a little while. I called the number, got an Indian woman who claimed I was calling Global PC Services. I asked what her company did and she said they provide Internet sercurity to companies etc etc. Then I decided to google the number on the caller id.... guess what?
This man called himself Frank. He called me Mommy. Egad. Fake representative of Windows Tech Support.I am calling the FCC to file a complaint. I am on the Do Not Call List. Besides, this is a scam.
I too got a call from that number. The man with the heavy thick accent, sounded Indian, stated that he works for Windows. At first I thought that he was marking home improvement. Until he started asking me if my computer is slow. I lied and said yes, just so I can see where this is going. He said that he can run a diagnostic on my computer to determine what’s wrong with it. I asked how much it will cost, he said, nothing. I told him these days nothing is free. That’s when he hung up.
Same deal. There were two guys on the line. I kept them on the line a while and pretended to go along. Then I told them I was recording the call and was it a problem. They said it was okay. Then I asked again what was his name, "Alex Walker" he said. I hung up and reported this to the FCC at number listed above:
Received a call from this number, from a man with a very thick accent SW Asia/India possibly, with a lot of background noise like a call center. Told me the same thing my computer was downloading viruses and mal-ware, when I asked him how he knew that he responded with we can see into you system. At this point I informed him he was part of my computer security system and had therefore hacked into my system and was in violation of the law. He hung up. Now I will report to the law.
These people called and said my computer had viruses. Little did they know they reached the top I.T. guy for a well known security firm. I let them do their thing, thinking they had a sucker, while I traced the originating computer. Interpol should have the proper authorities at their door soon.
They're still at it today. I was wondering why law enforcement wasn't knocking on their door. The number must have an address attached, no?
