Received NUMEROUS calls today from this number (caller ID says New York) obviously, not New York...people cannot speak English. I finally answered the call and they said that they have access to my computer and I need to take certain steps to eliminate this. That I need to go to Start Menu, Run and type in what they were telling me....they would then have access to my computer.I asked them numerous times.....if you have access to my computer right now......what do you see???After speaking with three people & I told them that this was a SCAM....they hung up on me.PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS.....
Yeah same as above but the frank guy also called my 82 yr old mom who lives alone next door and told her that her son (my husband) owed him money... To make a very horrible long conversation short he told her he would kill her and her son if he didn't get his money! That's going way far past a scam! That's got to be illegal! She has been upset for days! This guy or guys is scum!
Guy says I have a problem with my computer. They have been getting signals from it for two weeks. I told them I have a Mac and hung up.
This number calls me about 6 times a day, if I answer they disconnect the call. No one speaks just hangs up
Caller stated I was having problems with my computer.. I told him to get lost and hung up. This is one big scam.
This number has repeatedly called in the last week (caller i.d. said from New York).I finally got tired of it and answered. An Indian accent fella said that he was calling about my computer and that I had a virus that was contacting them and he just wanted to help me, etc............ I told him he was full of it and yelled "SCAM!!!!" and hung up!
Received call that my caller ID said was from NY. Man who was English language impared, said he was calling about my computer. Since I had recently had computer repair done, I assumed it was a followup call and politely began to listen to him. He said he was from Windows..(1st red flag).. that my computer was sending out signals to them...(2nd red flag) ,that he could fix for free if I would go onto my computer and follow his directions...(3rd red flag). By this time, having also noted that I was hearing a lot of background noise such as one would hear from telemarketing.. (4th red flag),I began commenting and asking him questions that so confused him and his English language skills that he started his rehearsed lines over from the beginning. I had finally had enough and said so ....he just hung up. I came to this site and found others who'd had the same experience. I took Warren's advice... Sep 20...and called the FTC @ 1-877--382-4357 to file a complaint. Was advised to call my Attorney Generals office as well. Don't bother to do this. These people are calling from outside the country, routing to this phone # and using a fake caller ID location. Was advised to just spread the word to everyone that I can and so should you all.
