Caller called a business line - clear sound, call center "boiler room" background noise, very clear "Hello". Responded with company name asked if we could help. Caller hung up. Dodgy at best.
Called me this morning, told me they were from Microsoft and that they were an oustide agency, also working for British Telecom....Let them talk away, acting surprised and dumb....then delivered the punch. I am an IT professional and you are scammers! Soon hung up. Don't verify any of your details or you will be on the hit list forever!
Caller identified himself by name which was inaudible and claimed he was calling from the "technical department of windows." I immediately told him his call center was too loud and to never call again do I report him to the police for fraud. He hung up. Beware! fraud warning!!He is not calling from the call center of Windows !Some months back, this happened to my Mom and she unfortunately gave uneducated acceptance of his help. He basically took over her computer and it got slammed with viruses. Luckily he didn't get anything but he there fishing for account passwords and bank accounts.
Same happened like below! Spammer not telemarketing, but there's no drop-down for that."Caller identified himself by name which was inaudible and claimed he was calling from the "technical department of windows." Got a call from this number today asking for me by name -- on THANKSGIVING -- saying our "registered Microsoft computer" was "downloading suspicious software that might be infected with a virus" blah blah blah. His accent was so thick I could barely understand him. When I questioned him, he got very condescending and laughed at me. I told him I would be hanging up and investigating and reporting the number if anything looked fishy. He kept laughing. Well, it's clearly fishy.
Heard loud talking in background, sounded foreign accent, no one spoke to me s I hung up
Caller called business. Business answered. Boiler room background sounds, caller hung up. Based upon other posts here, seems like a scam to allow the caller access to computers for no good reason or cause. Not good.
