Received a call from 1-213-873-5000. Caller ID was 'Aegis People'. A quick pick up and hangup is all I give these scammers. Checked 800 Notes and blocked.
Received this call while I was at work. Represented themselves as being with Chase and wanting to discuss lower rates and payment terms for mortgage. I do have a mortgage through Chase and my husband is refinancing for lower rate with New American Funding. That's when the calls started. The called before and left a message but I could hear or understand the message then
This is a service center for Chase, and perhaps others, to assist customers who have had possible fraud attempts with their credit cards. At least the contact I had (which I initiated via the # on the back of my card) was legit.
Called 4 times in one day. Nobody answered when I finally picked up. Called back, said it was a non-working #...
Placed an order with Tommy Hilfiger. 2 hours later, someone calls me from this number. I don't recognize it so I don't pick up. They call back immediately. This makes me think it's someone I know, so I pick up.A lady with an accent asks me to verify some information with my Tommy Hilfiger order. She wants to know my email address, name, address, and last 4 digits of my credit card. It all sounded very legit until I pressed her for WHY she needed to verify anything. I asked her 'Is there a problem with my order?' and 'Is there an issue with my credit card?' and she responded with, I don't have any information on that, but I can give you their customer service number if you would like to call them to ask. This was a bit of a red flag for me, so I pressed her some more- I asked her, "If I don't verify my order, are you going to cancel it?"At first, she made it seem like if I don't verify, the order will still be sent to me, but if there is a problem, it will be my responsibility. She kept on getting off the line as if to ask her manager a question (don't know if this was actually what she was doing). Finally she came back and said 'Goodbye.'.......I was like 'Wait wait wait, are you canceling my order?' She said "Yes" but stayed on the line.Looking back, this last thing she did seemed like a tactic to get me to be desperate to give her my info so my order wouldn't be canceled. I was pissed off so I hung up on her at that point. I immediately called Tommy Hilfiger's customer service to complain. At this point, I still thought that it was Tommy Hilfiger using an outside call center to deal with customer orders. I didn't think it was a scam until I called Tommy Hilfiger customer service and they said that they would not call me to 'verify' my order like that. The Tommy representative herself wasn't sure if they Tommy used another call center. But at this point, I think it's pretty clear that there is definitely a breach in their online security.
