We got a call from these jerks at 7:10 P. M. last night. Didn't recognise the number and let the answering machine pick it up. They hung up before the outgoing message was over. Tried calling the number back about two minutes later and the message said the number was no longer in service. Don't think it could be a scam call HUH?
This is not an Obama problem. This is a Business problem. Businesses and the wealthy are the core of the GOP. Guess who was against the DNC list from the get-go? Guess who forced exceptions for politicians, surveys, "non-profits" ("non-profits" are a bad joke, businessmen laugh all the way to the bank), and charities (any charity that can afford a telemarketer does not need my donation!). Under the guise of "down-sizing government" reduced the funds to track and prosecute telemarketers? Guess who pressured the FCC not to enforce the DNC list? Could it be the village idiot, George II? Unless you are wealthy or enjoy these calls, vote every Republican out of office, then see who has your interests at heart.
I have filed complaints (both FTC/FCC and state) on over 20 numbers in the last couple of months. Also, I have spoken to the state DA. The DA's office told me THE DO NOT CALL LIST IS A WASTE OF TIME AND TOTALLY UNENFORCEABLE due to current technology which allows for the creation of fictitious phone numbers. I keep a rolling list of blocked numbers as my telephone supplier only allows for 12 numbers to be blocked. I am going to take a suggestion offered in these comments and set automatic forwarding of these calls either to themseleves or another harassing number.
I totally agree with your response. I just rec'd call from this #. Didn't answer, fixing dinner. I had no idea where the area code was & when wireless caller a big flag for me. Hubby wanted to answer (as usual) & it quit on 3rd ring so apparently some other poor sole answered. I was going let go to answering machine as I usually do. If anyone needs me they leave a msg. Otherwise, leave me alone. It is really frustrating especially at dinner time & early mornings now getting some calls. Really perturbs you. Our wonderful government can't control these needless calls but they can tell us what/how we have to do other things in our lives. Hope all have a wonderful evening.
These people called and I didn't answer and they hung up - I am really tried of these unsolicited calls
We can always opt out. Hang up. If they call back, call the police. Telling you that you must answer their questions is not legal.
You are all fools. I got tired of reading the first page of comments about this number and people are treating it like it's some kind of blog. What you need to understand is that ANYONE can make up a phone number and a name for caller ID and with the right equipment, use it to place calls for illegitimate purposes. I spoke to a gal in the Vice President of AT&T's office for the Midwest region, and she said the FCC is really pissed off over this, and they have no way of tracking them. My part has been to post an average of 6 complaints per day with the FCC. I have posted well over a thousand complaints with these do-nothing people, and they are passing the buck to AT&T, who says I have to contact the police, and they say I have to have my life threatened or they need to have a formal complaint with evidence from AT&T to do anything. These criminals have the ability to target you DIRECTLY, and they can do it by making it look like your neighbor is calling you. For months now I get calls from "Card Services" from numbers only a couple digits different than my own, and with all kinds of name headings of "SURVEY", "NOT IN USE", "XXXXXXXXXXX CO", and they spoof numbers from Shell Oil Company and those of Dial Up Service computer lines. They can and DO make themselves appear to be anything they want you to think, AND IT'S A FELONY, however "Ken" at AT&T 888-958-3030 ext.6217 will argue with that saying it's not illegal for numbers to be spoofed, and somebody from the States Attorney" office needs to have a talk with that [***]. One of my complaints is that this is done MOST LIKELY with the phone company's blessing, because THEY MAKE MONEY OFF IT. They sell you call blocking and privacy manager and all kinds of crap that doesn't work, and it is DONE ON THEIR SYSTEM. How long would a restaurant stay in business if they let thugs and hooligans in to harass the customers while they eat? Our only real recourse is to tell the phone company to shut our phones off so we can save some money and reduce the aggravation, and I also keep saying that people need to post REAL info about where these criminals are and their names if they find out so some good old fashioned justice can be handed out. As it stands right now we are all getting a 3 way circle-jerk from the FCC, the phone companies and the FTC. OBVIOUSLY whatever they are doing IS AN EPIC FAIL. One criminal told me that most of these strokes are EX ACORN workers that were given these jobs by some goofy behind the scenes "community organizer" outfit, and they WANT to get the public cranked out of shape, because "it's good for business"..... WHO'S business? Is that why when I asked another for an address of where to send a formal letter to be taken off the calling list, they told me 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC ?? ( the White House). AND WHY IS THERE NO "CRIMINAL" in the list of call types below?
