I called the SSI office 800 772 1213They said 215 597 5657 is legit and they had a record of the call.When in doubt call the SSI 800 number.

They called me today and knew my name. They said they were calling from SSA and would send me an email. Stated that I needed to return their call but gave me different last 4 digits from number that called me.

My called ID showed: General Services, 215-597-5657. The voice mail message was from Joan Stegleano (Sp?), she gave her contact number as 866-431-3875. extension 31713, and she said she was from Social Security. I was skeptical about the call and message, decided to check out the general services number, and used this site. This was my first such call. I did not return the call.

Rec'd a call from 215-597-5657 on 3/31/16...Man stated this is Rich from the Soc. Sec. Office in Philadelphia...but left his direct line 215-597-1421. Called back that 1st # with a recording that it's a Non-working #, plus on the caller ID it shows General Sevices. What the Heck is that...Anyway, tried this guy's direct line 2xs & it went directly to voice mail...What The Heck is this !!

Got a call asking for my spouse by name. Spouse works nights so I asked if I could take a message. Lady said she was Laureen Culler from Social Security Administration and needed to speak with my spouse regarding the online application for Medicare. She left a toll-free callback number with an extension to reach her personally. After reading some of these posts, I will be telling my spouse to tread with caution when calling her back.

I received a call from this number on a Friday at 5:30 pm. Did leave a message to call back and that she would be in the office on both Saturday and Sunday until noon. Since when is the government open on a Saturday and Sunday. Said she was from SSA and wax calling about a claim I filed in Oct 2015. Never filed a claim and will not be calling back. Besides the number she left to call back is a non-working number. Scam!!!

This is an OLD number of the social security administration. It is a non-working number. I called the true administration myself and asked them why they called me on a Saturday. They said they do not call on Saturday. I told them the number, and they said it is a scam. They kept trying to get personal information from me. Anytime you get a call claiming to be from Social Security, tell them you will call back, and then call the legitimate number to verify whether they called you. Anyone can spoof a number, and put something else in the caller id to make it look legitimate. Be very careful. I started getting these calls after my wallet with all my cards in it got stolen.

It is not legitimate.
