Was this an online application per chance, that an online scammer could have hacked into? I ask this because I got a call from this number on a Saturday, asking me for my information. I did not give them any, as was skeptical. I called the SSA myself, the real number and asked them about it and the phone number. They said it is a non-working SSA number and it is a scam, and they don't call on Saturdays. Everyone be advised, if they get a number claiming to be something else, always call the real organization at their publicly listed phone number and verify. Even scammers can act nicely. It is a clever tactic.

I've received several calls from 215.597.5657. I did apply for SSD but ALL telephone interviews are scheduled in advance. I'm not returning the call because every communication I've had with social security administration involved written communication and scheduled telephone interviews. Even the phone interviews were followed up with a written notice in the mail. Until I get something in the mail I will not be calling an out of state number discussing my personal life.

if you applied for Social Security using the online application, why is it so strange to you people that they would be calling you. makes sense to me.

I got a message from 215-597-5657 on my cell phone claiming to be from Social Security, following up on my SS application that I had just submitted. They left a call back number 215-597-0898. He said their name was Agent Edmund Gracie and he was following up on my SS application. He said to leave message about time he could call me between 6 am and 2 pm and give my social security number.
