Debt collectors are prohibited from discussing anything until they verify the identity. They are not permitted to even acknowledge that it is a debt collection call. The problem is, in part, that the collectors have lobbyists to ensure that the laws are written in a way that helps them rather than the consumer. There are protections in the law for the consumer but they do not allow for much to stop the calls. The best thing to do is require them to provide proof of the debt - including all monthly statements. Frequently the debt collectors have purchased the debts from the original creditor and are not able to provide the requested documentation which frequently has the effect of shutting them down since they can not prove their case without the documentation.

I got this call too but at the same Care Credit / now GE Money said that my account has been turn of to Javitch Block in Ohio but then I wonder. Cause I have read so many negative things about them ,I'm scared to make payments afraid i will have lost my money and the bill owed to CareCredit still will not be paid

I got a call from this number at 2:02 am, i'm waiting for them to call me back, they going to get a piece of my mind

Received a call on 08/20/07 @ 9:09 am and on 08/21/07 @ 11:18 am. Neither call left a message.

They called me at 1:37am this morning. I called the number back, and the receptionist hung up on me. I don't even know the person that they are calling for.

Rude, nasty and sneaky. They called me, asked me to give them my SSAN and wouldn't say who they are. How do block people like this out of our lives?

I get 3 calls everyday from this number, they don't leave a message, even when they talk to someone at the house, they do not say what they want or what's the reason behind those phone calls, it's very annoying

We just received a court summons where Midland Funding is suing us to recover debt they purchased for pennies on the dollar and they want $2100. I filed a response with the county clerk saying we DENY having any business or contract with Midland Funding but we still may have to appear in court or the judge will issue a default judgement to these deadbeats!Be very careful in dealing with these people as they call from many different phone numbers so google (or your choice of search engines) each phone number you receive. If you receive a summons DO NOT ignore it, please!!! The summons will tell you how long you have to answer to the court. Call the court issuing the summons and find out what they require as an answer - follow their instructions exactly. My court only required a signed letter stating that we deny having any business or contracts with this company. Plus I hand-delivered my answer to the court.
