just received a call from this number. Foreign man identified himself as "Jack" from Microsoft with a problem with my computer...I said computer is fine and hung up
This number called today, and has called in the past, but not any intense barrage of calls. I think if no one picks up, at all, then they go away. They had not called in a long time. Then, yesterday, I got four -- count 'em--- four! calls from "Shelene Grigsby" at 770-784-5620, which is also listed here as a Microsoft scammer with an Indian accent. Are these all the same outfit, I wonder, or are they separate cells of verminous predators?
Received several calls from this number today. Same thing each time, India sounding voice claiming that he was called as a windows certified person regarding malware that was on my computer and broadcasting my personal information. On the second call I decided to play along. First I turned of my wireless internet function. I then listened to the instructions the guy gave me. First they have you run the windows event viewer. This utility allows you to see all action going on with your programs; its rather cryptic to look at but to shorten the story you normal see all the requests and actions different programs take and any errors that occur. Errors are pretty normal in the binary world of a computer. After looking at this the guy requested that I return to the run utility and enter "www.121.usa.com/help". If you get a call like this DO NOT enter the www address. It will take you to their web site. After I hung up I did a little research. Scams like this are common and from what I read they are a million dollar industry. Also in my reading I found that what they do is will ask you to make a remote connection. When this is done they now have control of your computer. The article also said that they will attempt to mislead you into believing that there is all sorts of stuff wrong with your computer. Additionally, it said that Microsoft or any of its associates will never call you nor charge you for computer fixes.
Called @ 1:04 pm EST. I didn't answer and no message was left. CID said wireless call. Never answer calls from unknown names and numbers. Had to be a scam call.
Got the same call from the same people, being computer savy I knew instantly this was b.s. Screwed with the guy for about 10 min till he swore and hung up.
I received a call from 234-321-3432 and said hello. No answer, then I heard them try to hang up. Of course 1st thing I did was put the phone no. into Google and got this first page. ................ Are "they'" s-t--i-l-l trying to use the MS virus scam?p.s. if you get toomany "prank", abusive, etc. calls, you do NOT report to FCC: one files a report with federal FTC.Also, I forget where, Yahoo has a report page.
p.s. It is really wierd if your caller ID shows you are calling yourself. I wonder if I should block my own phone number from calling me? Frontier ISP offers $3.00/mo block caller. I'll have to find out how to block an "unknown caller" "'unknown number" from my ISP. I will only add the wait time for tech support averages 2 minutes. Once, I had to wait for 3 minutes~! lol
These Indian guys called and I let my VM answer it. He kept saying "Hello hello hello hello hello hello anyone there". I think he thought we would pick up phone if we heard a human saying this because we might think its someone we know. We are American we aren't stupid! They are also calling from a 770-784-5620 saying Grigsby Shelene. They called me from this number 5 times the last few 2 days and yesterday my teen decided to answer and tell him "To go kill himself he had no future with the life he was living". Apparently they don't give up!
