I finally blocked this number. It's a scam. Guy with a heavily Indian accent says he works for Windows and wants to fix something on your computer. They take control of it, with your permission, and install stuff. I got snookered the first time, but hung up when I got suspicious and afterwards, ran a complete scan and deleted anything that had been added that day. Then they talked about it on TV. Nothing bad has happened, so I think I caught it before they were able to install any bad stuff. Last time they called, I yelled at the guy and slammed down the phone and then blocked that #.
I have Verizon, too and the 5 blocked number limit really ticks me is a since the reason I am bombarded with these calls is my myverizon account was hacked twice in less than 8 months, so being on the Do Not Call Registry and being super careful of who I gave my number to was useless. They got my email & physical address, too so I get all kinds of spam & junk mail in addition to the calls. The assigining no ring tone to these contacts is a good idea. Another way to get around the limit is if you do get a new phone, check out any of the Samsung Galaxy phones. I had a Galaxy S4 & a Galaxy Note 2, both of which have an Auto Reject function that is phone based & is independent of Verizon's system it worked great. I built a couple of contacts, assigned them to the Auto Reject List and never got a call from any of the numbers I put on the list after. My problem is my Galaxy Note died, so I upgraded to the shiny new LG G4. I researched its functions & saw it had the same capability. Got the phone, followed LGs instructions to use the blocking function, only to find it didn't work. Contacted both LG & Verizon who both told me Verizon disabled that (an other) features, but neither could give a reason. I'm using your no ring solution, but if the calls don't ease up soon, will be looking for a new cellular provider.Good luck to you!
my computer is sending out viruses and they will fix it . claim they are from Microsoft. I would think Microsoft would do something to stop this. Last time he called I told him if he was going to scam people he should learn better English. He swore at me in English and what ever other language he spoke and hug up
Call from a Indian sounding fellow saying I have a computer problem. He wanted me to turn on my computer so he could help......yuk, yuk...I made a disparraging comment and hung up..
"Michael from the Technical Department of Windows" heavy Indian accent, told him I was going to India and shove a cow up his azz. Scam, reported it to FTC
