my phone rang and I was too absent minded and thought it was a phone call I recognizedhowever when I said hello about 3 times a HINDU speaking accent came on the line and said "well hello im calling about your computer".........I realized a made a horrific mistake by answering the callI hung up of course and blocked them (what idiots).....................
Indicating I have a computer problem that he can fix. We know MS or Windows has a policy of never calling period.
Same thing just happened to me! Man with a very hard to understand Indian accent asking me about the ID of my computer...I told him I didn't know what he was talking about and hung up! I don't have a computer in my name! Work laptop is through the business and my desktop at home is under my husband. SCAM!!!
This is the second call, that I can prove I received, from this number. They called yesterday and hung up when I answered. Today, I answered and had to say Hello 4 times, before someone said Hi. He asked if I were Robert O'Brien and I asked who's calling ? He said his name, which was unintelligible to me(Indian Accent) and said her was calling from Microsoft and that I had downloaded a malicious program to my computer. He then asked me to go and turn it on so he could 'fix' it. I said is this 'Sahib and are you calling from India ? he said yes. I told him that I would not be letting him remotely control my computer. He said Thank You and hung up. I felt that this was a SCAM of some sort. I have only had this computer for about a month,a Toshiba Satellite Laptop, which came with McAfee and Windows 8.1, which I upgraded to Windows 10.
This is a scam. I called Microcenter technical department and they told me Microsoft DOES NOT monitor anyone's computer and DOES NOT proactively call customers to tell them there is a problem. These people want access to your computer. Hang up and do not do what they instruct you to do!!!
I played along today, funny how their telling me about my windows computer when I own all Apple. I asked what they were going to do with my banking information once I put my computer in remote mode and the guy started yelling at me. He let me know by saying my first and last name that he had some of my info, which kind of bothers me. Oh well, this is never going to end.
I get several phone calls a day from this number. I don't answer and so they will call back every few minutes. Sure wish they would fall into a hole somewhere and never get back out.
I get calls from this number and they hang up - when I dial the number back the number is busy
Got a call from this number, did not answer it since I did not recognize the number. Voicemail said there was a message. When I replayed the message it was 2-3 seconds of an Indian/Asian sounding female, but I could not make out what was said, so another one for the block list.
They called a local TV investigative reporter who did a story on then and exposed them as scammers. His advice, tell all of your friends about this so they don't get taken in by these scammers. Also, don't answer a number you don't recognize. Unfortunately, tere is no way to eliminate the calls or put these scammers 6 feet underground.
