I RECEIVED THE CALL FROM THE MAN YESTERDAY. I, TOO, LOOK AT IT AS A POSITIVE. I LIVE IN HOUSTON. IT'S WEIRD HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE SUSPICIOUS. OBVIOUSLY, HEARING THESE WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT HAS HELPED SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO GOT THE CALL AT A TIME WHEN THEY REALLY NEEDED IT.
I just received the "thank you for all you have done" call at 10:54 AM CST. I am also in Houston, Texas. It was a recorded female voice and the message ended with, "thank you, your friend." I hope this isn't something weird coming in from a foreign country and we're going to end up with a monstrous phone bill or something like that. Has anyone reported this to their phone company? I am going to do so now.
Just curious if you use Comcast for the phone you received this message on. I think I may have found a link. Would you let me know?
Got the same call (male voice, saying "It was urgent that I called as soon as possible, I would like to let you know how important and appreciated you are to me and others, for some reason I know you needed to hear this right now, thanks and have a great day, Bye.") in Houston on 7/1 at 11:43 AM.Suspicious? You bet. Someone has gone to significant effort and/or expense to auto dial a huge volume of Houston telephone numbers with this recorded message from an untraceable telephone number. There is good reason to be skeptical.For those of you who coincidentally received the call just after giving blood, when you were feeling down and needed a boost, etc., and who believe the call to be divinely inspired, good for you. But I don't buy it.I don't necessarily ascribe evil to the caller, just something more than good hearted spreading of love. I predict future follow-up calls, eventually leading to a pitch for something.
Received the same nice message a few minutes ago. Did a reverse check on the area code and came up blank. Used 247 to search for country code and came up with Ascension Islands. Searched Ascension Islands and found this:The island is the location of Wideawake Airfield, which is a joint facility of the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Force. I live in The Woodlands which is just north of Houston and received the same call around 12:20 p.m. Has anyone found out what this is about?
