Called me and said he was calling from Microsoft and that my computer was sending error messages. I asked him to identify the computer, he said it was the Windows 7 computer. Only trouble is the computers we have at home are all Apple. Oops. Hung up on the SOB.
Received a call from 253-820-3089 - picked up an idiot who has a strong thick indian accent tried to tell me he is from Microsoft and that I have soooo many malicious viruses on my computer - I challenged him asked what viruses?- what malware? I informed him he was incorrect, my pc is clean - he attempted to argue with me that I am stupid don't know what I am talking about he wanted me to let him show me what he was saying -I asked for his name, his ID, and a call back number, he refused to give me it, told me he will now F**k me because I have no idea what I am doing - I laughed and challenged him again - asked him if he knows whats on my computer whats my IP address - he continued to rant of what he wanted to do to me and my family when I informed him I am recording the call and will pass it along to the cops and FBI he said I will not do that if I am dead and he will come and kill me - Told me that the FBI and Cops can not and will not do anything, he then proceeded to call me a [***], [***], [***] etc.. all while trying to get me to open my computer so he can help me. Calls do not come from Tacoma Washington - Wishes the government would do more about this than allow this to happen with to unsuspecting victims.
An Indian guy who barely speaks English, posing as a techie, calls and tells me "your computer is sending error messages" to his server, which has something to do with a Windows service update data base - or something to that effect. He was difficult to understand-very thick Indian accent. He tells me to turn on my computer and he'll guide me through the process to fix the problem. I asked for the name of the company and where it is located; I asked how he got my phone number and how he determined that my computer was turned off, or that I even owned a computer. He became flustered and said that my number is connected to my computer. I told him my phone number has nothing to do with my computer. He becomes more flustered; then this GENIUS tells me he will get his supervisor on the phone, so he pretends to be his supervisor; he apparently, wears many hats there. Ultimately, he can't handle the barrage of questions and hangs up.This individual is not too bright, and obviously thinks most Americans are idiots. There is a plethora of idiots in this country, and the world, but I'm not one of them, and I can't imagine how this foreign moron could get past anyone with more than 2 brain cells to rub together. If folks get scammed by him, they deserve it.Post
i got a call last night at almost 10:00 p:m. it was from that number, so i ignored it. i also have had the same jerks call me and tell me to go get on my pc. told them i was busy. told me it was important, they were from Microsoft etc. told them my pc wasn't turned on. bugged me till i turned it on. went to the view events in RUN, and tried to tell me they were all bugs and i needed them to fix it for me. haha, dorks don't know that i been computing since 1988, and i KNOW it was all baloney, and not oscer myer, but because they keep bugging me, and late at night which really bugs me, i kept jerking him around untill he thought i was going to do what he wanted. then i told him ...nah. don't think so. LoL!! oh, i love how the grannie chewed they sorry bums out, that was funny. ;)i am soooo tired of being woke up, or jeweling with beads and fireline in my hands, and have to go see who is ringing my phone? i feel like ripping it off the wall. actually, i did do that one time...uh oh. it was worth it.so...what do we do? somone said the cops came and filed a report, how did you get them to do that? anyway, cheers peoples, and God Bless. ♥
I received the same calls and the same line about my computer downloading viruses. I hung up.
i just realized something....we CAN do something about these creeps, and we are doing it! think about it people, if you hadn't posted that it's a scam, i wouldn't be here seeing 14 pages of other people getting called from the same jerks. so in a way, we are doing something. we're BLABBING it all over the net! i'll tell them that when they call tonight, as i didn't pick up last night. it could have been a long lost friend, and now i don't have to worry about it. besides, my phone says ...leave a messege, and if they are my old friend, they would say something. i like to push talk, then hit off. that's kind of fun. ;)
I feel like the biggest idiot! I fell for this crap - These folks called and it was coincidentally at the same time that my computer kept crashing, so at first I really thought they were with Microsoft. This phone number is the one that showed up. But after a little while I just knew something was up - I kept questioning and they kept coming up with explanations - not even good ones - what's wrong with me?? But they scared me and told me my computer was in jeopardy. I even called the number they gave me and it sounded legit. I gave them access to the computer and they showed me things that looked legitimate (I am definitely computer illiterate when it comes to the back end). I even filled out a form that they said was not visible to them with my credit card info to renew "my security software which had expired). But then I got very suspicious and googled their phone number, and it turned out to have the same type of reports for scamming as this number. So they must go to the same place. I'm furious - I was able to stop the payment on the credit card - but I had to cancel the card to do that. But in the meantime, they had plenty of time to look for a lot of other personal info while they had access to the computer. They had asked me to leave it on for 3 to 4 hours in order to "clean up all the viruses", but as soon as I figured out the scam I disconnected the internet and closed the computer down. I am feeling very stupid and incredibly angry.
They called me, I pretended to turn on my computer, and "followed his instructions". I told him my computer started smoking and demanded to speak to his superviser. He hung up and hasn't called since.
Pretty much a variation on a theme. This blabbering stink-douche started in with semi-intelligible rants about my computer downloading viruses ... That's as far it got. I told him to learn English, get a life, [***], and shove his cell phone up his [***]. Waiting for my call back. Would truly love to track this jackwagon to a real addy. Oh, yeah....
