This is a real scam. They claim to be IT from Microsoft that know my computer is infected.Knowing this was a scam I asked the guy to repeat his instructions about 25 times.He got tired of that after a while then gave me the simple version of how to bring up my error log.Next mistake he made was to ask me to count the errors - so for about 5 minutes I kept counting, and counting, and counting... so now he was tired of that - somehow my computer was so infected I ranked talking to the supervisor... ahhhh kept asking for the bottom line of what they wanted, finally got him toadmit they were trying to sell a warranty or some such thing which only reconfirmed what I orginally knew,they wanted access to my computer.... anyway 28 minutes later, I really had to get some work done and told them abruptly that I knew what they were doing and to never call me again. ..We shall see - it was amusing but sad because I know some people will fall for this scam. I am going to report them to all of the sites that are set up to receive and report scam and abuse calls.

How is this number still connected? The FTC and othe government agencies should put them out of business, The number that called was 253-820-3089. Maybe if everyone called this numer and said that they are seeing that his computer is infected, it will cause him (or them) enough pain to stop.He told me outright that he was a Microsoft Tech Support agent and sounded Indian. Probably an Indian company(in India) using a Washington number to make you this they are ligit.I registered a complaint to the FTC. Everyone needs to register a complaint to the FTC.

This number was on my caller ID when I returned home. I live in Prunedale, CA. They called at 4:15 PDT.

The guy I talked to could barely speak English. I'm a linux bigot, and all my computers run Linux. When he starts trying to tell me my computer has windows viruses, I know these @$$&0|#$ are trying to separate people from they're cash.

They gave me LA, CA number to call back, since there was a bad connection, so beware of calls from this number too:323-522-5565I could not find anything on the above number, but they called me back from 253-820-3089 so I know now what this is all about. Thanks for warning us.

The number 253 820 308 showed up on my caller ID~don't know why the last digit didn't show up. The calls were exactly like the calls reported by everyone else who got calls from 253 820 3089. He sounded Indian and was very hard to understand. He kept babbling about something being wrong with my computer but hung up when I started asking questions.

I also got a call from this number at 8:30 am this morning. He gave me same info as most others here. Told him he was full of BS and hung up. Made sure to tell rest of family what was going on.From Surrey Canada here...

Ya, I got a call this evening. Sounded like an east European woman, who called herself Annie. Said she was calling because I have Windows ... hmmm ... hung up right away.

Call received, no message left. Based upon the info provided by the good people posting here, I have added it to my phone's contact list under "fraud", assigning it a mute ringtone.
